Augusta, GA – Damien Gregorio Taitague, 35, entered into rest Thursday, April 10, 2025.
Damien was a lifelong resident of Augusta and proudly served as a firefighter at the Augusta Fire Department. To know Damien was most definitely a life-changing experience, one that would always leave you with a lifetime of memories. He touched so many lives, more so than he ever would realize. He had unparalleled courage, drive, compassion, empathy, humor (even if sometimes sarcastic), a zest for life, and tremendous devotion to his mom, Catherine, and his twin, Devin. The 3 of them were often inseparable. He was an amazing brother. He and his brother Devin were always each other’s ride or die through thick and thin. You rarely saw one without the other, Tait 1 and Tait 2.
He loved golf, which he started playing at the age of 5. He could go months without playing and pick up a club without practice and beat his opponents. A joke that has always followed him. He was devoted to his faithful loving canine companion, Ava. Damien never met a stranger. He had a smile and laugh that was truly contagious.
His firefighting family was an example of how Damien dove straight in giving everything he had to his fellow man. He made strong bonds with his fellow recruits as well as his station family. He absolutely loved being a firefighter – never for the money – he just wanted to be in the fire and fight, striving to be “first” in. His faith in God was strong from his teachings from William Harrell and made stronger by the discussions he would often have with his mom and his brother. He leaves a legacy that he most definitely can be proud of, as is his family.
Family members include his mother: Catherine Taitague Mallon and her husband Michael; brothers: Devin Taitague and wife Lindsay, and Sean “Bo” Tanner; nephew: Bennett Gregorie Taitague; canine companion: Ava; aunts: Pamela Pate and Quinann Gardner; and cousins: Christopher Blackburn (Shelly), Chelsea Brown, Dakota Finch, B.J. Kilroy, MaryBeth Knapp, and Daniel Dawson and many other cousins. He was preceded in death by his father, Gregorie Taitague, grandparents, Gregorio and Janet Taitague, George Robert and Mary Ann Dawson.
