Wow, Dan. We texted at Christmas, and now you are gone. What a horrible surprise. Semper Fi, Brother.

I'm an old Marine friend of Dan and known him for 45 years. He was a true friend and special person to me. In the early days we were crazy enough to get in a little trouble, but smart enough to stay out of big trouble. We had many great and fun times. Memories that I will cherish forever. It was Dan who convinced me to move back to California from Ohio after I got out of the Marines. That changed my life forever because I met my wife and many new friends in California. When my wife and I got married in a friends backyard, Dan volunteered to be the DJ. This put him in charge of the wedding CD containing wedding music. After a few prior "refreshments" the wedding started and Dan started the music. I somehow walked up to "Here's comes the bride" and my wife walked up to a song that sounded like the theme song to "Bonanza". We laugh so hard afterwards....That was my Buddy!
Though many miles apart, Dan and I stayed in contact over the years. He was like a big brother to me. If you needed advice, a helping hand, or just wanted to talk, Dan would be there for us. He was a helpful, smart, and kind person and just fun to be around.
Dan called me on Christmas day to wish my wife and I a Merry Christmas and said he cooked a nice Prime rib roast for his Dad. A few days later he emailed me a picture of his old jeep and plow and said he was ready for the snow.
My deepest Sympathy to his Dad and family.
May God Bless Dan
I'll never forget the person he was and I miss my Friend dearly.

I barely knew Dan, but his kindness deeply touched myself and my family. He had worked with my niece, Danielle, at Pizza Hut and when she died two months ago, Dan brought in a fresh rose every week for her Christmas stocking. I went up to meet him and thank him on the Thursday after Christmas. We spoke for a while and he sent me home with a hug, the last rose, and a deep appreciation for the man he was. I can only imagine how tragic a loss this is for you and I send you all my deepest sympathies.
