Death Notice

Dan J. Hendrickson

1958 - 2023

Daniel "Dan" John Hendrickson, age 64, passed away on April 20, 2023.
Daniel was born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania to George Hendrickson and Joan Hendrickson (nee Campbell).
He is survived by his siblings Kent (Mary) Hendrickson, Karin (Bill) Taylor, Lyn (Gary) Gath, and Chrissy (Terry) Ortman; his Step-Brother Anthony Larkin; as well as many beloved nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, as well as his Step-Mother Mary Hendrickson.
Danny was born in Philadelphia where he lived for the first 9 years of life. After his family moved to Florissant, Missouri, he attended Sacred Heart Catholic Grade School and St. Thomas Aquinas High School (1976).
Dan worked many different jobs, including: banquet manager at Henry VIII, Marriott and Hilton Hotels, delivery driver for UPS, a checker at Walgreens, a "cable guy" for Charter Communications, a bartender at Cindy's Zoo, an embroidery operator for Worldwide Products specializing in Harley Davidson swag, and his final place of employment was with Florissant Ornamental Ironworks.
Like most of his family Dan enjoyed following the baseball Cardinals, the Philadelphia Eagles, the St. Louis Blues, and, of course, the Liverpool Football Club in the Premier League.
Danny had a keen interest in many subjects and delighted in learning about them. He was a coin collector, a horse racing enthusiast and even enjoyed skydiving. Poor health plagued Dan for the past ten or more years and he was unable to enjoy some of these passions, but he developed new ones; chiefly keeping an eye on several eagles' nests via live stream and bird watching out his window.
Danny's sharp observational skills led to a keen wit that was his most salient personality trait. We will all miss his funny, punny commentary on the world around him.
In lieu of flowers, we have chosen a retirement facility for former racehorses, "Old Friends" as our charity of choice.
