In memory of
Rick

In the late 70's, my friends and I would drive from Lee's Summit to Moffet's Gym on Johnson Drive at least four times a week, just to have access to Dan's amazing equipment and the inspiration of all the accomplished lifters who trained there. Dan was always available to help new lifters and kept the gym atmosphere lively and welcoming. When I decided to go away to college, he built and gifted me a custom bench so I could continue working out in my dorm room. Dan was a big part of my life and I'm sorry to hear of his passing.

I used to work out a Moffett's gym in the 1980's and such wonderful memories of Dan and the incredible equipment he built and the work outs I received there. Probably the best shape of my life.

I was shocked and saddened to read of Dans passing. Dan ran his gym out of my fathers building for years and was by far my dads favorite tenant, in large part to Dans integrity, business acumen, amiable personality and drive. My thoughts go to his family.

I'm sad to here this I was a neighbor of Dan's when he lived in fairway . He started me out with a training program when he used to train in his house with equipment he built himself . I'm 63 now and have kept up weight training my whole life

I belonged to Moffett's Gym for ten years or so, both at the Johnson Drive location and the Brookhollow location. Dan designed and built some of the best equipment and he ran a straight-forward, basic gym. Dan was a great guy to talk to. Those were certainly fond days.

A generous and kind man. He will be missed by many. His interests were wide...between falconry, fishing and fly tying , metal working, and a host of others. RIP Moffett!

A giant in the legacy of weightlifting and bodybuilding in
the Kansas City area.
Few, if any, did more for weight sports in the area than Dan.
A true hero to me.
