Dan lived life at full speed and with true joy in everything he did. He was a proud father who loved his son Jack and enjoyed their tradition of spending the day making various flavors of chicken wings together. Dan delighted in being at the poker table with Jack and always reminisced about the time they won a poker tournament together.
A 22-year friendship between Dan and Judi blossomed into love and Dan gained a "Really Cute" racing partner as well as a wife. The unbreakable bond that was formed between Dan and Judi and the love Dan had for her was immediately evident to all that met him.
Racing has always been Dan's passion. He started out Mud Bogging in his pickup truck the Mud Lizard and due to his competitive nature, worked his way up in racing world. He started dragging pickup trucks, then raced the indoor circuit with a Thunder Truck body and lastly to the Mud Drag Pro Open where the Richter Scale evolved. Adored by fans, loved and respected by his racing family, and with countless broken racing records on the books, Dan was always happy sitting in the seat of the Richter Scale sending the mud flying.
Earthwork was what he did for a living. He spent 29 years as a project manager working for Edgerton and was the driving force behind many major projects in Milwaukee and Florida. Some of the most significant projects he completed in his career were Miller Park Stadium, Mitchell Interchange, Zoo Interchange, Airport Spur and Lake Vista. He then had the opportunity to work on the Space Coast in Florida where he constructed rocket ship launch pads for Space X and Blue Origin. During his time there, he evolved into a self-proclaimed "Rocket Geek".
His talents were astounding and widespread. He filled is life with numerous interests, affiliations, and hobbies. When he wasn't racing, you could often find him playing poker, bowling, kayaking, shooting guns, and fishing. He also spent time in the drum core while in High School and is a standing member of the Fraternal Order of The Eagles #4257 in Merritt Island, Florida. While an avid and passionate music fan with an ear for almost all genres of music, his absolute favorites were Rush, Myles Kennedy, and his nephew Donny Richter.
Anywhere Dan went he made friends instantly. He was easy to talk to, funny and always had a big smile. The first person people would go to when they needed help was Dan. Always dependable with an outreached hand to help. His kindness and generosity made him truly one of a kind.
