Dan Walsh

To Claire and the entire Walsh family. I am very sad to hear of Dan's passing. I worked closely on several projects with Dan during my time with Heineken in New York and truly liked and admired him and I considered him a true friend. I shared his love for sailing and we often talked about our life of sailing. I am three years older that Dan, but I looked up to him and admired him.

I was fortunate to make two trips to Amsterdam with him from New York over the years, just him and I for some meeting. One of those trips as we were arriving at Schiphol Airport, he asked me if I brought a tie, and I said yes I did, then he said he didn't bring one, or forgot to bring one. I told him I had a couple extras if he wanted one, which he used and appreciated.

On another trip I made to Ireland with a Heineken group that did not include Dan, he asked me before I went on the trip if I would like to sail in Cobh Harbor near Cork, and I said absolutely! He set it up for me a couple others to sail the Harbor on Dan's fathers sailboat. Michael Foley was the President of Heineken USA at the time and he also came out for the day of sailing. Michael pointed out everything of interest as we sailed for hours. That was one of the most memorable days of my life. Although I haven't seen Dan in about 20 years now, I have very fond memories of him and consider him a great man and friend. Rest In Peace Dan.
