Dr. Dana M. Avist, DNP, APRN, FNP-BC, passed away peacefully at her home on Thursday, May 6, 2021, at the age of 57 years. Dana was born on March 13, 1964 to the union of Ewald and Bernadette Avist. Dana will also be remembered by her godchildren Sa'Carl Taylor and Domonique Angibeau. She is survived by a host of aunts, uncles, cousins and friends. Dr. Avist is predeceased by her sister, Viola "Sue Sue" Barthelemy. Dana lived in Lithonia, GA, and was a native of Boothville, LA. She is a 1983 graduate of Boothville-Venice High School. Dana and I have been friends since 1989. We lost contact a couple of years back when I retired and moved from Atlanta back to Louisiana. I am truly shocked and grieved by the news of her passing. I just learned of her passing and I'm still trying to process the news. The memories of Dana will remain with me forever. May God's grace sustain her family during this period of bereavement.

I just learned of Dana´s passing. I´m so sorry for her family, friends, co-workers & patients. What a huge loss! She treated my mother in a memory care unit and continuously worked to stabilize her rapid, scary descent into Alzheimer´s. She helped mom have as good a quality of life as is possible for an Alzheimer´s patient. She helped me better understand what was happening during that stressful time. She caring & kind. She was a rare blessing in an industry that tends not to care about Alzheimer´s patients.
