Dana Moore Obituary

Dana C. Moore Sr. ERVING (Farley Village)-Dana C. Moore Sr., 85, of 11 Holmes Street, passed into eternity on Tuesday afternoon, January 13, 2009 at Quabbin Valley Healthcare in Athol. Born on July 3, 1923 in Orange, a son of John N. and Mary (Marble) Moore, he grew up on the family farm on Cross Road and graduated from Orange High. Dana was the last of eight children. Dana married his high school sweetheart, Virginia (Black), on June 4, 1944 in the former Farley Congregational Church and have enjoyed 65 years together. Dana was a milkman for the former Dawn Dairy and Snow's Dairy, and also worked at the Minute Tapioca Company in Orange. He went on to work for the Town of Erving Department of Public Works retiring in 1986. Following his retirement, he drove the Erving Senior van for 20 years. He enjoyed caring for the seniors. A devoted family man, Dana enjoyed spending time with them and puttering around his home. He also enjoyed going to draft horse pulling competitions, and was an avid Red Sox fan. He leaves his loving and devoted wife, Virginia, their children, Craig Moore, and his wife Judy, Sandra Rindone, and her husband Dennis, and Dana C. Moore Jr., all of Erving, ten grandchildren, fourteen great-grandchildren, a daughter-in-law, Holly Moore of Clarksburg, and many nephews and nieces. Dana was predeceased by a son, Rodney Moore in 2006. A graveside service is to be held in the spring at Erving Center Cemetery. There are no calling hours. In lieu of flowers, donations are suggested to the Rolling Thunder- VT Chapter, c/o John Laughton, 863 North Main Street, Orange, MA 01364 Witty's Funeral Home, 158 South Main Street, Orange, is honored to direct the arrangements.
