Danelle Birch Obituary

Published by Legacy on Nov. 22, 2025.
Danelle Gaye Birch, age 55, passed away peacefully on November 21, 2025, in Layton, Utah. Born on February 28, 1970, in Denver, Colorado, Danelle brought warmth, light and laughter into the lives of all who knew her.

A beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and sister, Danelle was the heart of her family. She is lovingly remembered by her devoted and compassionate husband, Peter Birch; her children: Nathan Birch, Jordan (Sarah) Birch, and Sadie (Cliff) Crank; and her cherished grandchildren: Oliver, Colton, Wyatt, and Grace. Her legacy of love and kindness continues through each of them.

Danelle was preceded in death by her parents, Kay and Leona Metzener; her sister Dana Lynn Metzener Bennett; and her brother David Metzener.

Professionally gifted and deeply passionate about helping others feel their best, Danelle ran a home salon for many years. With skillful hands and a generous heart, she provided hair and beauty services to neighbors, friends, and loved ones-transforming not only appearances but also spirits. Her salon was more than a place of business; it was a haven where people felt seen and cared for.

Her creativity extended beyond hairstyling. Danelle had a flair for decorating her home with warmth and charm. She found joy in crocheting thoughtful gifts for others and crafting with care-each creation a reflection of her generous spirit.

A faithful member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Danelle served in various callings throughout the years. Among these roles, she especially treasured her time in the nursery caring for the youngest children. Her gentle nature and nurturing presence made her a beloved figure within the church community.

Those who knew Danelle often speak of how she made them feel-special, loved, seen, and important. She had the best sense of humor and could make you laugh and feel lighter. Her kindness radiated effortlessly. She gave freely of herself in service to others and left an indelible mark on countless hearts.

May the memory of Danelle Gaye Birch bring comfort to all who were blessed to know her.

I absolutely loved Danelle. I regarded her as a special friend that I could relate to. We spent time in the Primary Presidency together and have many special memories. I will miss her dearly even though we haven´t been able to spend much time together over the past few years. I look forward to seeing her again one day.
