Daniel Dewitt Bacon

1944 - 2025

Daniel DeWitt Bacon passed away peacefully on December 21 at his home in Swall Meadows surrounded by family and friends. He was born on April 12, 1944 at Providence, RI, the 11th generation grandson of Roger Williams who founded Rhode Island in 1637. Dan was a resident of Swall Meadows from 1972 until his passing and was an employee of the Union Carbide Pine Creek operation. His passions lay with the land he loved, his relationships and the techniques of meditation he practiced and shared.
Dan was an original San Francisco Summer of Love flower child and a monastic student of Paramhansa Yogananda. He was a friend of the Bishop Paiute Tribe and a tireless volunteer for California and Mother Earth. "Take good care of her".
Loved by many and hated by a few ("just the right ratio" Dan would say) for real atonement and change to happen. "That tension seems to be required for life issues to be worked out in a lasting and transformational way, so, thanks to all -good or bad - I couldn't have done it without you! Tell everyone I love them".
