With heavy hearts, we regretfully announce that Daniel T. Barone, 67, born June 9, 1958, of Rensselaer, New York, passed away peacefully in his home.
Dan was predeceased by his parents, Frank and Annabelle Barone (Martin); his sister, Carol; and one brother.
He was the devoted father to Buddy (the beagle) and the favorite cousin of Joanne “JoJo” Prestipino. Affectionately referred to as “Danny Boy,” he enjoyed playing the blues on his favorite harmonica, hitting people with his cane, and drinking beers with his best friends.
In the final years of Dan’s life, he was “adopted by” and lovingly cared for by his neighbors and chosen family, Jah’nea Mason (Donkey) and Jennifer Lasher (Buttercup), lovingly referred to as “the kids.”
Dan is survived by Buddy (the best boy); “the kids”; his favorite cousin, JoJo; two brothers; one sister; nieces; nephews; and the friends who loved him, Joseph Reynolds, John Gelpi, Roy Hammond, Jimmy Hammond, Wayne VanVorst, and Lew Beardsley.
Dan didn’t have an easy life and didn’t always make the best decisions, but he overcame the struggles that tried to hold him down, and he never looked back.
Dan was treated by the exceptional medical staff at New York Oncology and Hematology (giving his final salute), as well as by Community Hospice and Dr. Heather Kidd through St. Peter’s. Many thanks to these extraordinary professionals for giving Dan as much time as possible to spend with those he loved.
“Love you, proud of you.”
