Daniel Eugene "Buddy" Blackwell

Daniel Eugene "Buddy" Blackwell, 66, of Rock Hill, SC, passed away peacefully on February 28, 2026, surrounded by his loving family.

Born May 25, 1959, in Rock Hill, SC, Buddy was the son of Fred Mathew Blackwell and Regenia Workman Blackwell. A lifelong resident of Rock Hill, he was known for his strong work ethic, steady presence, and deep love for his family. Buddy married his high school sweetheart, Paula Bradley, on July 1, 1977. They shared 48 devoted years of marriage, building a life centered on faith, family, and simple joys. Together they raised two children and were blessed with eight grandchildren who were the light of his life. He treasured family trips, camping adventures, and cheering on his grandchildren at their activities.

Buddy dedicated over 30 years to Concrete Supply, beginning as a concrete driver and working his way up to area manager. He retired in 2021 due to declining health. Coworkers and friends respected him for his leadership, integrity, and humor. He loved fishing, hunting, playing softball, and golfing, and he was a member of Oakdale Baptist Church in Rock Hill.

Those who knew Buddy will remember his warm smile, sense of humor, and the way he made others feel valued and welcome. He leaves behind a legacy of love, strength, and devotion to family.

Surviving are his wife, Paula Blackwell; children, Dena McCloskey (Bryan) and Paul Blackwell (Tara); grandchildren, Blake McCloskey (Ashlyn), Ann-Elise McCloskey, Rayna Blackwell, Leland McCloskey, Haymes McCloskey, Madison Blackwell, Bryant McCloskey, and Jax Blackwell; stepmother, LaDonna Blackwell; brother, Matt Blackwell (Nickie); sisters, Terrie Minton and Sherri Blackwell (Ken); along with many beloved nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Fred Mathew Blackwell and Regenia Workman Blackwell.

The family will receive visitors on Tuesday, March 3 from 6:00pm-7:30pm at Greene Funeral Home Northwest Chapel, 2133 Ebenezer Rd, Rock Hill, SC 29732. Funeral services will take place on Wednesday, March 4 at 11:00am at Greene Funeral Home Northwest Chapel with David Carter and Joey Deese officiating. A private burial will take place at a later date at Grandview Memorial Park.

The family will receive friends at the home of Daniel and Paula Blackwell.

Buddy will be deeply missed and forever remembered by all who knew and loved him.
