Obituary published on Legacy.com by Hedges-Scott-Millard Funeral Homes and Hedges Cemetery - Camdenton on Jul. 17, 2025.
Dan was the fifth addition to the Boeckman family when he was born on March 25, 1962, to C.B. "Beck" Boeckman and Martha "Nan" Hilburn Boeckman. As a teenager, Dan joined his parents as they relocated from Kansas City to the Lake of the Ozarks to run Empire Resort in their retirement. Although Dan's career would take him across the Midwest, his love of the Lake remained constant throughout his life. The Big Niangua arm holds many wonderful memories of Dan for his friends and family.
Dan graduated from Camdenton High School in 1980. He went on to earn a degree in Construction Management from Pittsburg State University in Pittsburg, Kansas. Dan's career in construction took him from working the night shift supervising the construction of Kansas City high-rise to overseeing state-of-the-art expansions for hospital systems in Missouri and Illinois. For the last 15 years, he was with SIH Memorial Hospital in Carbondale, Illinois, where he served as the Corporate Director of Facilities.
In 1988 he met his future wife Gail, in Springfield, Missouri, and asked her if she would like to dance. They were joined in marriage on September 1, 2001, at St. Anthony's Catholic Church in
Camdenton, Missouri. A great joy of their shared life was adopting their son Deegan from China in 2002.
Dan's hobbies were united under one theme: allowing him to spend time with friends and family. He was always happy to entertain guest at the Lake. Dan owned and loved many boats throughout his life. Perhaps none more than his 36-foot wooden Chris-Craft christened "GiGi, " that features prominently in his nieces and nephews' childhood memories of their beloved Uncle Danny. In many of those memories, he is fiddling with a temperamental engine. He is remembered by his loved ones as perhaps the luckiest golfer on the planet. He famously scored a hole-in-one during a tournament shortly before traveling to adopt Deegan and then won a Mustang at another tournament shortly thereafter (though it was deemed impractical for life with a toddler).
Dan is remembered for his kind and generous heart. Over the years, he was involved with Big Brothers Big Sisters, hosted an international exchange student from China, and was an active member-and past president-of both the Missouri and Southern Illinois Healthcare Engineering Society chapters.
Dan was preceded in death by his parents, Beck and Nan, and his beloved sister, Debra Boeckman. He is survived by his devoted wife Gail, son Deegan, stepson Sean Calhoun, his siblings and their spouses: Linda (Jim) Griffeth of Galveston, Texas; David (Linda) Boeckman of
Camdenton, Missouri; and Mark (Kathy) Boeckman of Santa Clara, California, as well as many adoring nieces, nephews, and in-laws.
Family and friends are encouraged to remember Dan when they are spending time by the water and when the Cardinals win.
Friends will be received from 10:00 am to 11:00 am on Saturday, August 2, 2025 at St Anthony's Catholic Church. Memorial Mass will be held at 11:00 am, Saturday, August 2, 2025 at St. Anthony Catholic Church.
