Daniel Brown Obituary

Daniel Eugene Brown, born May 11, 1949 to Garrett and Beverly Brown, died peacefully in his sleep on October 12, 2025 after a long and hard fought battle with cancer. He was 76 years old.

In his early years he worked alongside his family to help create the company of Stucco Stone Products, later known as Cultured Stone. After his retirement he went on to pursue his real passion, hunting and fishing.

He wasn't a particularly social man yet he developed friends with like minded souls up and down the coast because of the love of fishing and talking about fishing. You could not be in a room with him for long before the conversation would turn to fishing. He always said that the worst day fishing was better than the best day working!

He went through life like he fished, he would cast his line hoping for that perfect catch. There were times he would miss, however he would repeat his casting again and again. He may have changed the line, the bait, the rod, or the water, but he never gave up trying. His most important life lessons were learned through persistence and perseverance.

It was his love of fishing that got him in the campground business, where he spent his time in the beautiful redwood forest often just watching the river flow. The fishing cabin and river next to it was his happy place.

All of his kids and grandkids agree that he loved to give lectures on life and they were expected to listen!

"Learn from the mistakes of others, life is too short to make all the mistakes yourself".

He is proceeded in death by his father, Garrett, his brother, Phillip, brother-in-law, Alan Veliquette and his son-in-law Jeffery Harrington.

He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Donna. He is also survived by his mother Beverly Brown, brothers Richard (Julie), Steve (Tina), sisters Christine Velequette, Jeanine Petersen (Mark), his son Dana, his daughter Shelley, his granddaughters Kara Rocha (Alex), Shannon Brown, his great granddaughter Remiah Rocha, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

As per his firm and final request there will be no memorial services.

How about the age of 15 I´m at the Browns the whole family there were probably one of the most wholesome down to earth and loving families I´ve ever gotten around. I hung out with Danny and Richard and had a lot of fun up on the hill above them chasing rabbits and squirrels around and hiking, and learned a lot from that family a better family. I´ve never met. Dan was a solid kid. I lost track of him after a few years, we went different directions, but always felt like they were in someway brothers. I´ve tried to contact Richard after the fire, but then I´m able to catch up with him. I pray that God takes care of Danny And Richard and the rest of the family. I was sorry to hear about Garrett passing. I learned a lot from him just by paying attention. I worked for Brown brother plastering for a while and decided it wasn´t what I wanted to do and moved on when I did that I lost track of the family, which was my loss or forever being indebted to the Browns and they´ll always be my friends. God bless them all.

As his older brother, I was blessed to know him for 76 years. I worked with him for 30 years, and hunted and fished with him for another 50. We lived in the same towns all our lives ... to say we were close, would be understating it. He never did anything 1/2 way, he got that from his father. At work he made sure we made the best stone; he made major improvements at his campground; most people would be happy catching 20 salmon in the morning and take a nap, not Dan, he would take a lunch and catch 20 more. Cemo was robbing him of strength. He stopped taking it to go turkey hunting one last time. His bucket list included taking Dana and Shelley on exotic fishing trips, even while in pain. Yah, Dan never did anything 1/2 way. He was a very special person and it was a privilege to know him.
