My Uncle Danny shared a birthday with his older sister, Patricia (Patsy) by five years. He was her baby brother, and she loved him dearly. He and my dad (Vern) were like brothers and had similar interests, especially archery. Uncle Dan always had this ornery grin like you never knew what he was thinking, but had a heart of gold. He loved people and would help anyone anytime he could.
As his niece, I took for granted the notion that my uncle would always be there. Throughout the years we lost touch, as I became an adult, got married and had a family. It's too easy to do that, if you let it. Don't ever do that.
Uncle Dan, I miss you already. You were at times a voice of reason and wisdom and I didn't appreciate that. But please know that my memories of you will never fade into the sunset.
Give Dad an extra hug for me when you see him up there, okay?
Gonna miss that wry smile. Love you.
