Daniel "Dan" Dale Newcomer
Daniel "Dan" Dale Newcomer, age 71, of Mechanicsburg, passed away on Wednesday, December 14, 2022. Dan was born on Friday, June 1, 1951, in Montoursville to the late Dale Newcomer and Freda (Plants) Newcomer. In addition to his parents, Dan is preceded in death by his second wife, Kathleen "Kathy" Ann (Vivian) Newcomer.
Dan's survivors include his wife of 17 years, Debra "Debbie" Elizabeth (Barrie) Newcomer; his five children: Jennifer Turberville and her husband, Dave, of Apple Valley, MN; Brian Newcomer and his wife, Michele, of Circle Pines, MN; Eric Newcomer and his wife, Ashley, of Conshohocken; Steven "Steve" Newcomer and his wife Dannielle, of Mechanicsburg; Lisa Newcomer of Mechanicsburg; his two stepchildren: Christine Yendell and her husband, Brad, of Bel Aire, MD; Kevin Masse and his wife, Anna, of Etters; his 11 grandchildren: Alexa, Owen, Jack, Caden, Elaina, Corey, Caleb, Katelyn, Holly, Blake, Ronald; his two brothers: Fred Newcomer and his wife, Penny, of Watsonville; Patrick Newcomer and his wife, Rebecca, of Mechanicsburg; and several nieces and nephews.
Dan was a graduate of Montoursville High School, where he played football. He served in the United States Air Force and later received his bachelor's degree from University of Scranton. Dan worked in the field of IT throughout his professional career living in Mechanicsburg.
Dan was a great husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and an amazing friend. Many will remember him rooting for the Pittsburgh Steelers, coaching and cheering on his children and grandchildren in sports and various other activities they were involved in. He always anticipated his fun summer vacations and going to the beach. Dan was such a happy person who always had a good sense of humor and was simply fun to be around. He will be truly missed, never forgotten, and loved always.
All are welcome to join Dan's family at his viewing on Thursday, December 22, 2022, from 10:30 a.m. until 11:45 a.m. at Buhrig Funeral Home & Crematory, 37 East Main Street, Mechanicsburg, PA 17055; and for his Mass of Christian Burial at 12:30 p.m. at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 410 East Simpson Street, Mechanicsburg, PA 17055; with Reverend Kenneth C. Roth celebrating. A graveside service and burial will immediately follow in Gate of Heaven Cemetery in Mechanicsburg, where military honors will be presented by the Cumberland County Honor Guard. Dan's family invites everyone to join them for a time of food and fellowship at Buhrig's Gathering Place (next to the funeral home) immediately following the burial.
