Daniel J. Devine

Daniel "Dan" J. Devine, 88, of Barnegat, New Jersey passed away at Southern Ocean Medical Center in Manahawkin, New Jersey on June 16, 2023.
Daniel was born on November 13, 1934 in Brooklyn, New York. He was raised in both Brooklyn and Staten Island, New York before moving to Jackson, New Jersey in 1975. He later resided in Lakewood, New Jersey for over 20 years before moving to Barnegat, New Jersey in 2009.
Daniel was a very proud military Veteran having served in the United States Navy for 8 years. He also worked as an Operating Engineer in New York as a member of the International Brotherhood of Operating Engineers for over 50 years before retiring in 1999.
Daniel was a member of the Loyal Order of Moose Lodge #1360 in Perth Amboy, New Jersey for many years. He also enjoyed bowling and was a member of the Friday Night Leagues in both Howell and Lakewood, New Jersey with his wife Pat and daughter Sharon.
Daniel was a proud gun owner and enjoyed going to the firing range whenever he could. He also enjoyed traveling, shopping for antiques, attending garage sales and flea markets, going to Atlantic City and spending time with his family and friends. Daniel was an animal lover. He especially loved his dogs. He also enjoyed watching The History Channel and Modern Marvels.
Daniel was predeceased by his loving wife, Pat, in October 2021, his father Frederick Devine in 1952, his mother Katherine Devine in December 2001, his brother John P. Devine in October 2000 and his brother Frederick W. Devine in September 2008.
Surviving are his daughters Kelly Devine of Barnegat, New Jersey, Colleen Ruckstuhl and her husband Victor of Little Egg Harbor, New Jersey, Tracy Sutton and her husband William of Barnegat, New Jersey and Sharon Devine of Tulsa, Oklahoma, grandchildren, Daniel, Stephen and Stephanie Ruckstuhl, Patrick Boyle and Piper Sutton along with his great-granddaughter Kayla Ruckstuhl.
A Viewing will be held on Thursday, June 22, 2023 from 5:00-8:00 pm and again on Friday from 9:30-10:30 am at Bugbee-Riggs Funeral Home, 335 South Main St., Barnegat, NJ 08005. A Funeral Liturgy will be offered at 11:00 am at St. Mary's RC Church, 747 West Bay Ave, Barnegat. Burial will follow at St. Mary's Parish Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Popcorn Park Zoo or the American Heart Association.
