Daniel J. Doran

1938 - 2025

Daniel Joseph Doran, 86, of Delmont, passed away Sunday, March 9, 2025. He was born June 26, 1938, in Braddock, the son of the late Denzil and Josephine (Alesse) Doran. Daniel served in the United States Army in 1955, being discharged honorably in 1962. He grew up in Swissvale, PA. In 1963, he received his diploma from the Pittsburgh Barber School. He worked as a carpet installer for many years and then went back to being a barber. Daniel volunteered at Bushy Run Battlefield for many years, where he provided tour guides. Daniel was a true Irishman and was in a piping band. He loved participating in the reenactments, playing his beloved bagpipes. He was very active when it came to anything historical; he loved the history of the French and Indian War, but most of all, he loved spending time with family. In addition to his parents, Daniel was preceded in death by his sons, Ralph Doran and Sean Doran. Daniel will be sadly missed by his daughter, Lisa Doran Szalanczy (Dale); and her mother, Karen Doran; sisters, Kathy Peters (Lou) and Donna Marrone (Dave); and brother, Joseph Doran. Daniel was a proud grandfather of Casey Szalanczy, Danielle Dunmire (Grant), and Dale Szalanczy III; great-grandchildren, Ronan Dunmire and Maeve Dunmire, whom he loved dearly.
