Daniel Sam Elliott, born on May 13, 1939, in Buncombe County, North Carolina, passed away peacefully at his residence on August 30, 2025. He lived a life characterized by dedication, humor, and a selfless spirit, retiring after 35 years of dedicated service with Norfolk Southern Railroad.
Throughout his career, Daniel built many close friendships, earning the admiration and respect of those around him. Known for his great sense of humor, he found joy in joking with friends and family, always putting others first and offering his help to many. His love for his family was evident in all he did, and his legacy will continue through them.
Daniel enjoyed restoring antique tractors, showing his appreciation for craftsmanship and history. His adventurous spirit led him to travel extensively, creating cherished memories with his grandchildren on numerous vacations. He adored his hound dogs, especially his beloved Bassett hound, Sammy.
He is survived by his daughter, Tammy Meadows and her husband Ted; grandchildren John Denny and Ashley, Chris West and Jamie, Chad Martinez, Lauren West, and Heather Neal and Brandon; as well as sixteen great-grandchildren who brought immense joy to his life.
Daniel was preceded in death by his parents, Vernon and Elsie Gilliam Elliott; his daughter, Teresa Fisher; and siblings Mark Elliott, Naomi Hall, and Ann Lawerence.
A visitation in honor of Daniel will be held on Saturday, September 6, 2025, from 10:00 AM until 11:00 AM, followed by a memorial service from 11:00 AM with Reverends Ted Meadows and Jeffrey Parker officiating, both at Beam Funeral Service & Crematory located at 2170 Rutherford Rd, Marion, NC 28752.
Daniel Sam Elliott will be remembered for his unwavering kindness, vibrant humor, and the loving legacy he leaves behind in the hearts of his family and friends.
