Andrea and family, Your dad was a nice man with a booming voice. I will always remember the first time I met him. Andrea and I were walking to your house after school in the 4th grade and he was very upset with us because we did not have our hats on.lol Anyway I am very sorry for all of you. I know the days ahead will be difficult. With Love Kim

Sandy and family: Stunned to hear of Dan's passing. Connie and I were unable to come to the funeral, but ours thoughts and memories were of you and your family, believe me. I remember family reunions when we would all be together as children and have such fun, and then Sandy, you were added to make your own family with Dan. Over time we have moved apart, but the memories and Christmas cards/letters keep us together as an extended family, which I appreciate so much. May God bless you and yours, and help you sort through all the things you will be doing in the next few days. We will stay in touch by email.

Sandy and Family,
Sandy, I have not seen you in many years, but you and my sister, Sue Titus are very good friends. I knew you and your family when you and Sue lived in Maple Grove. I was deeply saddened to hear about Dan and please know that you and your family are in my thoughts and prayers at this most difficult time.

The Erickson Family,
My condolences on the loss of your husband and father. We bought your house on Meadowlark. At the closing we waited and chatted together and I remember thinking you sounded like a fun family. As I've raised my own family we've had a lot of fun and laughter. Now, as I read all of the beautiful posts from your family and friends, I have to think some of that joy just came with the house! After all of these years I could still remember the names of your first four children. The youngest, however, escaped me and I was touched to learn his name is Ben. Coincidentally, that is also the name of my youngest son. God bless all of you and know that you are in my thoughts and prayers.

Erickson Family,
So very sorry for your loss. As time goes by, your sadness will lessen and be replaced with the fondest of memories, and Dan has left many memories to help you all through this. For the little ones...tell them about "Pennies from Heaven"... When they see a penny amywhere (and they will see many!), that it is Grandpa letting them know that he is looking down from heaven and letting them know he loves them and that he is keeping an eye on them! Worked for me when Mom died. It's comforting :)

I read the note from our cousins email blog and I'm glad that you were able to talk to Dan in the early morning hours before his passing. Having a partner so long is amazing in itself and you are so fortunate to have shared your lives together.

Dan always talked about being "Gampa" and how he loved his family so very much. I loved listening about the trip to Europe, The award winning VW Rabbit, His Son(s) shop & etc. He was so proud of his family. May God bless you all through your time of sorrow.

Heidi, your dad was one of those people who made everyone he met feel like one of the most special people in the world. We will so miss Maddie looking across the street and exclaiming "Bergie's grandpa is here! Can we go play?" We will miss him dearly, and our thoughts are with you and your entire family.

It was very sad news to hear of Dan's death. I was on the AHS '60 reunion committee with him. He was always one of the first at our meetings to show pictures of his family. He adored you and we could tell the feelings were mutual! I'm so sorry for your loss and for all of us who knew him, we mourn with you too . He was a great guy.

Erickson Family - Words cannot express the loss of Dan. Such a strong, loving man. Full of life, laughter and that famous smile of his. No matter how your day was going - if Dan walked in with that smile nothing mattered any longer. He loved life, but his real love was Sandy, his children and grandchildren. I will never forget how he would talk about his grandkids. He'd say "come on Sandra I have to go see my Bergie" We'd be at breakfast and he'd talk about each grandchild - tell me something that he wanted to brag about. I loved listening to his stories. Dan will be missed by all those he touched in this life. I don't want to say that it does get easier - the loss never gets easier - but life goes on for those still here and the memories that was talked about are what make it easier. You are all in my prayers and as Sandy knows I have a prayer circle at church that I will now add Dan and Family to. This is prayed weekly. Love all of you,
Julie

Sandy, when we got the call with the sad news of Dan's passing we were absolutly stunned. Although our paths have gone separate ways over the years, there are many fond memories to reflect on of our times together in years past. We can't begin to know the pain you are feeling, but, know that you are in our thoughts and prayers. Love, Jim & Sue Knowlton

Thank you for sharing your loved one with us...as neighbors to Heidi and crew, we were blessed for five years to have some fun, laughs, and spirited conversation with this kind, loving man. Our children, having lived far from relatives, got excited when they saw the green car in the driveway and would say "Gampa is over!" (Bergie's cute, original way of saying it ;-). You are all in our thoughts and prayers and we hope that all of the wonderful memories you have of Dan make your hearts a bit lighter every day. Love, Jan, Dave, Charlie and Tori

Dear Andrea, Sandy and family-
I know the loss of your Dad and husband will lead a big void in your lives- He was a funny man that taught big life lessons - the difference between need and want, and that closets were not made for shoes and clothes but stairs were. We are praying for all of you.

Andrea, Sandy and family,
I know not having your Dad around leaves a big void in your life and I am truely sorry for that. I will always remember the lessons he taught you - the difference between want and need and that closets are meant to be empty. He had a wonderful sense of humor. You are all in my prayers.
