Daniel G. Francois

Daniel G. Francois, age 54, of 727 Davidson St. NW, Elkader, Iowa, formerly of Dubuque, died Saturday, July 19, 2008, at home, of unknown causes. Memorial services will be held at 11:30 a.m. Friday at Holy Trinity Lutheran Church, 1755 Delhi St. The Behr Funeral Home, 1491 Main St., Dubuque, is in charge of arrangements. Daniel was born on December 31, 1953, in Dubuque, Iowa, son of John and Alice (Owens) Francois. Daniel served in the United States Naval Reserves. He was a Green Bay Packers, Pittsburgh Pirates and Chicago Cubs fan. His favorite baseball player was Roberto Clemente. Daniel enjoyed games and country music, especially Waylon Jennings and Willie Nelson. He loved his dog, Boo Boo. Daniel was a wonderful father and friend. Survivors: his father, John Francois, of Elkader, Iowa; 3 sons, Daniel Findley, of Benton, WI Luke and Eric Francois, of Farley, Iowa; 1 daughter, Nicole Fitzgerald, of Dubuque; 10 grandchildren; his siblings, Tom Bastis, of Dubuque, John Francois, of Colorado, Jerry Francois, of Kansas, Vicky Lincoln, of Dubuque, Mary Francois, of Mineral Point, Wis.; his care giver, Barbara Mane, of Elkader, Iowa; 2 stepsons, Steven and Adam Mane, of Chicago, Ill.; many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his mother, Alice Francois; and a brother, Jim Francois. A Daniel G. Francois Memorial Fund has been established.
