Daniel Fraser Obituary
East Alton - Daniel Eugene Fraser, 68, passed away Wednesday, November 5, 2025, surrounded by his family.
Born March 23, 1957 in Alton, he was the oldest son of Darrel Loren Fraser, I and Vera Faye (Finley) Fraser. They both preceded him in death.
He married Julie Ann Jackson on June 8, 1979. They shared 46 years of marriage.
Dan graduated from Roxana Community High School in 1975. He was a talented thespian and portrayed Sky Masterson in their rendition of Guys and Dolls. He went on to SLU and then Lindenwood College, majoring in computer software and electronic engineering. He worked as an IT Project Manager and later as a Servicenow Architect.
A member of the First United Methodist Church in East Alton, he served as a trustee, Sunday school teacher, and sang in the choir. He was a former President of the Bethalto/Cottage Hills Chapter of the Gideons International. An excellent photographer, he took pictures of the Roxana football games for the Telegraph. In the community, Dan had a generous servant's heart. He was team captain for the Bucket Brigade, and helped paint over 75 houses. He was proud to be Co-Founder of Working Towards A Cure, a local not-for-profit that assists local breast cancer patients. He also served as an announcer for the East Alton Soapbox Derby and was Cub Master for Cub Scouts Pack #94, enriching the lives of so many boys.
Left to cherish Daniel's memory are his wife, Julie; his son and daughter-in-law, Christopher and Ashley Fraser of Wood River; two grandchildren, Alexis and Chase Fraser; his brother and sister-in-law, Darrel Loren Fraser II and Kimberly of East Alton; and a niece and nephew, Jessica and Randal.
Memorial visitation will be 4-7 p.m. Monday, Nov. 10 at Paynic Home for Funerals. A memorial service will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Nov. 11 in the chapel at the First Baptist Church of Maryville, 7110 State Rt. 162 in Maryville.
Memorials may be made to the Gideons, for bibles, or to Working Towards A Cure.
