Dear Family and Friends:
Dan's death came as a shock to us. He had just lost his dad (Dave Garthe), and we had been trying to get information on where/when those services were going to be held, and to get addresses to send condolences for Dave's passing. Then we heard about Dan passing. It is still hard to believe.
Diane (Leino), my wife, was Dan's cousin and had known him for many years, but she had lost contact with him when we moved to CA in 1989. But when we moved to Maine in 2006, she was able to reconnect with him and all the family. We so much enjoyed getting reacquainted with Dave and his wife, Violet, and Dan and his family. It seemed to me that Dan really enjoyed family get-togethers; he would usually make a point to invite the family for a barbecue when he, Stacy, and the kids would come to Maine for vacation. Di says that he had a natural way of getting people together. Even though we didn't get together that much, those are great memories.
After we moved back to CA in 2015, we once again found it harder to stay in touch with family back East. Facebook is not the same as actual face-to-face meetings! Still, it was fun to see pics of the kids as they were growing up, and we enjoyed the bits of news from Dan as he talked about working in NYC.
It is always hard when you lose someone you love. We grieve with all the family, and we continue to pray for God's peace and comfort for all. If anyone has any updated info regarding any memorials to either Dave or Dan, please drop us a line at: Mark & Di Lopez; 22811 Banyan Place, Unit 372; Santa Clarita, CA 91390

To Dan's Family, please accept my condolences for Dan's passing. I worked with Dan at K&A. He was a gifted Architect. I enjoyed working with him. He was funny and good hearted to be around. He will be missed.

Poem (author unknown):

"God saw you getting tired and a cure was not to be so he put his arms around you and whispered come to me. With tearful eyes we watch you and saw you pass away and although we loved you dearly we could not make you stay. A golden heart stopped beating hard working hands at rest. God broke our hearts to prove us he only takes the best."
