Daniel L Harman

Daniel L. Harman, 73 years old, peacefully passed away on Thursday, October 30, 2025 at the Sanctuary at St. Paul's in South Bend.
Dan was born on March 5, 1952 in South Bend, IN to the late Samuel Lee and Betty Lou (Piasecki) Harman. On November 19, 1972, Dan married the love of his life, Janice Bowering, who preceded him in death on January 25, 2009. Dan is also preceded in death by his parents, Sam and Betty Harman; brother, Jeffery Harman; brothers-in-law, Michael Bowering and Jim Cassler; sister-in-law, Jane Harman; and father-in-law, George Bowering.
Dan is survived by his son, Adam (Sarah) Harman of South Bend; and their children, Brady Harman of South Bend, Alison (Jonathan) Yonai, of Arizona, Olivia Harman and Wyatt Harman, both of South Bend; his daughter, Amy (Dwight) Smith, currently living in Germany; and their children, Sophia Smith of South Bend, Teddy Smith of Greenwood, IN and Abraham Smith of Germany; as well as several nieces and nephews; mother-in-law, Virginia Bowering; sister-in-law, Jeanne Cassler; and his dear family friends, Kris & Jake Borkowski and Millie & Dave Hack.
Dan was a devoted family man. He was always there for his family and friends, offering the best advice, a helping hand, and plenty of laughter along the way. Known for his great sense of humor, Dan brought joy to every room he entered. He was an avid outdoorsman, spending time fishing, hunting, and honing his impressive marksmanship skills-winning several awards and competing in numerous events. When not outdoors, Dan enjoyed playing his guitar and singing, rebuilding his pontoon, and expressing his creativity through arts, crafts, and sewing projects. He was also a member of the St. Joe County Restoration Club. Dan's warmth, humor, and dedication to his family and passions will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
The family would also like to thank the staff at St. Paul's and Caring Cove Hospice for their exceptional care over Dan.
Visitation for Dan will be held from 4:00pm-8:00pm Wednesday, November 5, 2025 at St. Joseph Funeral Home. A Funeral Mass will be held at 11:00am Thursday, November 6. 2025 at the chapel at Sanctuary at St. Paul's, 3602 S Ironwood Dr, South Bend, IN 46614. Burial will take place at a later date at St. Joseph Cemetery, South Bend.
