Daniel Joseph Hass, a cherished son, brother, grandson, uncle, nephew, cousin, and friend passed away on March 16, 2024, in Grosse Pointe Park. Daniel was born in Detroit, Michigan to his loving parents Daniel and Vickie Hass (nee: Corley). He was a beacon of joy and love to all who knew him.
Educated and accomplished, Daniel earned his Bachelor's degree and carried his spirit of determination and excellence into his professional life. His love for cooking was more than a hobby; it was his way of nurturing and bringing people together. Daniel was known for his ability to transform simple ingredients into dishes that delighted the senses and warmed the heart. His culinary creations were a staple at family gatherings and a testament to his love for those around him.
A man of many interests, Daniel's love for life was evident in his enthusiasm for music and the outdoors. His fingers danced across piano keys as gracefully as he navigated the trails and shores he so loved to explore. Daniel's voice was a familiar comfort, often uplifting spirits with impromptu performances by the Lake Michigan campfire or through the tunes he shared on his social platforms. His love for singing was matched only by his love for the natural beauty of places like Cathead Bay in Northern Michigan, Dauphin Island in Alabama, and Anna Maria Island in Florida. The Northport and Surfside communities held a special place in his heart, as they were the backdrop for many cherished memories. Daniel's legacy is one of joy, companionship, and a zest for life that was truly contagious.
Daniel is the loving son of Daniel and Vickie and the beloved brother of Audrey and Madeline. He is the proud uncle of Henry and the cherished grandson of Barbara and Leo Hass and Charlotte Corley. Daniel is also survived by his aunts and uncles, Mark Hass, Sharon Hass (Dave), Kim (Joe) Thames, and Tim Corley (Susan), along with numerous cousins and friends who were touched by his generous spirit across the country. Daniel is preceded in death by his grandfather Jerry Corley, his cousin Emily Corley, and his aunt Cyndi Hass.
Daniel's love for his parents and the bond he shared with his sisters, Audrey and Madeline, was one of unconditional support and camaraderie, and the joy of being an uncle to Henry Corley Hass was a role he cherished deeply.
As we bid farewell to Daniel, we take solace in the countless moments of happiness he imparted on all of us. His laughter, his songs, and his culinary masterpieces will continue to resonate in our hearts and minds. Daniel Joseph Hass lived a life that exemplified the beauty of embracing each day with open arms and an open heart. He will be profoundly missed, yet his melody will forever echo in the lives of those he loved and left behind.
A memorial visitation will be held for Daniel on Wednesday, March 20th from 2:00-5:00pm at Chas. Verheyden, Inc., 16300 Mack Ave., Grosse Pointe Park. A memorial service for Daniel's family and close friends will start at 5:00pm Wednesday.

I would like to extend my deepest condolences on behalf of the Washington family. I've known Daniel for 11 years, and have many fond memories of him from our days at Brownell Middle School and Grosse Pointe South High School. My younger sister Eden was longtime friends with Daniel's younger sister Madeline.

Daniel was always a positive source of joy and an exuberant person to hang out with throughout our schooling. I particularly liked Daniel's engaging attitude and penchant for making others feel happy no matter the situation.

My friend Malcolm Crutchfield and I recall many warm memories of hanging out with Daniel during the North v. South football games, South Homecoming game, and in various classes. Daniel was always a reliable and cheerful friend to be with on every occasion. He will be deeply missed.

May Daniel rest in eternal peace.

I worked in Northport, MI for the last 2.5 years. Dan was a staple in that community. He became a regular at my store and seeing him was one of the most enjoyable parts of my week. I remember seeing him pull into the parking lot in his big white truck.

A few months ago he pulled in the parking lot and I noticed another man in the passenger seat I didn´t recognize. I asked Dan who it was and he told me it was one of the local homeless. Dan was giving the man a ride into town but before doing so they stopped at my shop, Dan payed for this man´s order.

Dan was sweet, thoughtful, kind and easy to talk to. I´ll miss him and am sure the rest of the community will to.

Rest in Peace Friend.
