Daniel Jaquish Obituary

Published by E B Gormley Funeral Home on Nov. 4, 2017.
Fleischmanns- Daniel T. Jaquish, 71, of Old Rt. 28 died suddenly Saturday November 4, 2017 at the Margaretville Memorial Hospital. A native and life long area resident, he was born July 7, 1946 in the Margaretville Hospital, son of the late Daniel and Anna Meade Jaquish. He was a veteran of the United States Army. Dan was a self-employed business man who owned and operated Jaquish Appliance Sales & Service for approximately forty-five years. He was dedicated and proud to provide his customers the very best in service. There are many untold stories of the folks that Dan Jaquish has helped over the decades in the Catskill's. He enjoyed traveling the US, and was happy to have his own fishing boat for the Pepacton Reservoir. Surviving are his 3 sons: Wayd and his wife Dawn of New Kingston, Danny and Chad both of Florida, a daughter Marie and her husband Jeff Culver, and 22 grandchildren also survive. A Service to Celebrate the Life of Dan Jaquish will be held on Tuesday November 14 at 12 noon at the E. B. Gormley Funeral Home 87 Main St. Phoenicia with Fr. Raphael Iannone of the St. Francis de Sales Parish. Friends will be received on Tuesday from 10am to 12 noon prior to the service. The family suggests memorial contributions may be made to the Margaretville Ambulance Squad. You may share a special memory with the family on Dan's Commemorative Page at www.gormleyfuneralhome.com

Tanya and I were saddened to hear of Dan's passing. We offer our deepest condolences to Dan's family and especially his 22 grandchildren - Wow! Although Dan's acquaintance with my family was limited to perhaps a dozen or so interactions over the last decade, he made a lasting impression based on his unparalleled expertise in his field, attention to detail and fair dealing. On this last point, I will share the following story about our last interaction: When my refrigerator ice-maker broke recently, I called Dan to replace it. Before selling me an item I may not need, Dan insisted I tinker with the refrigerator controls (over a period of multiple weeks) to validate that replacement was the correct option rather than operator error. I think Dan spent as much time educating me about ice-makers as fixing the item. Tanya and I will miss him.

Wayd & Family
So sorry to hear of Dan's untimely passing. He was always available through the years with many of my old second hand appliances and the new ones, many I purchased through him. Since the late 1970's I always called Dan with urgent breakdowns. Dan always responded ASAP. If I wasnt home, I just left the door open with instructions not to let the cats out! One cat in particular gave him a hard time fixing my dryer by annoying Dan by keep jumping inside! I always enjoyed conversations with him. The last time Wayd was here, He told me Dan was having some health problems. We were so sorry to hear about this. You go through life assuming people you know and rely on will always be there. We are so sorry for your loss, our prayers and thoughts are with you all. Lou & Jacqui Guglielmetti.. Phoenicia, NY

I was saddened to learn of Dan's passing. Being in the housing industry in the area for many years, Dan and I dealt with each other frequently. He was an astute businessman and I admired both his work ethic and his love of family. He will be missed.

Too soon to say good bye. Dan will be remembered as a kind and caring gentleman, man of integrity and friend. I feel privileged to have known him from my first purchase of a stove, dishwasher and refrigerator over 25 years ago. His technique was so effective we've been friends ever since and I've purchased replacements from him too! My sincerest sympathies to family.
