Daniel L. Jeffery (66) went home to be with Jesus on February 27, 2026 at 5:30 a.m. after courageously battling Renal Cell Carcinoma for 16 years. He was surrounded by his family.
Dan was born in Atchison, Kansas on October 5, 1959 to David L. and Shirley J. Jeffery. He grew up in Missouri. Dan graduated from Southwest Baptist University, Bolivar, Missouri, with a Bachelors in Music Education, and earned a Master’s of Music Education from Pittsburg State University in Pittsburg, Kansas.
Dan married Lucinda R. Umphries on May 30, 1981. They have five children who were the absolute joy of his life. Then, as God is so famous for, He blessed Dan exponentially with 10 (so far) grandchildren.
He loved God and knew Him intimately. Dan was always ready to laugh. He had wisdom beyond his years. Dan loved and was loved well.
Dan was preceded in death by his mom, Shirley J. Jeffery. He is survived by his wife of 45 years, Lucinda Umphries Jeffery; his children, Jessica (Matt) Crosson, Elisha (Matt) Hickman, Jeremy (Kristi) Jeffery, Abbi (Matt) Swearingen, and Bekah (Quinton) Vollmer; his grandchildren, who affectionately referred to him as “Oompah”, Levi, Maisey, Nathan, Norah, Bennie, Porter, Rylynn, Tyler, Wesley, and Allie; his father, David L. Jeffery; his sister, Patti J. (Jim) Kopp; and numerous nieces and nephews.
During his college years, Dan committed to a life of submission to the Lordship of Jesus Christ and never turned back. He memorized scripture, taught Sunday school, led music, preached, counseled people, and served God’s kingdom his entire adult life. Dan took pride in his ability to learn new skills and applied those skills in a multitude of ways. There was nothing he couldn’t learn, fix, or improve upon.
Dan loved his family and loved spending time with them. He always lived in community with others. In lieu of flowers, the family would love for you to honor Dan by serving your family and community in a meaningful way.
A service celebrating Dan’s life will be held Saturday, March 7, at 2:00 PM at Crosspoint Christian Church, 204 SW 11th Pl, Cape Coral, FL 33991. Reception to follow.
