Daniel "Uncle Dan" Jones, age 73, of Pittsburgh, PA, passed away peacefully on December 20, 2024, with his family by his side.
He was born in Pittsburgh on March 8, 1951, to the late Lillian and Sylvester Jones.
Dan was the beloved husband of Sandra Jones, with whom he created many cherished memories over the years. He was the loving father of Danielle (John) Iaquinta, April Jones (Ryan Kelley), Jessica Carter, and Kayla Carter. Dan was a proud grandfather to Johnny Iaquinta, Anna Iaquinta, Amelia, and Gracie. He was a dear brother to Ed (Audrey) Munz and a dedicated uncle to Dwain Southerland, Thomas Jones, and many nieces and nephews. Dan was also an adoring dog dad to Lucy and Louie, who brought him great joy.
He was preceded in death by his son, Sean Patrick Jones, his sister, Kathleen, and his brother, Thomas.
Dan's commitment to helping others was unwavering. As a recovering alcoholic, he was deeply involved in the AA program, guiding numerous young people on their path to recovery. He set a high standard, insisting that they could only call him 'Uncle Dan' after 90 days of sobriety. His dedication, strength, and compassion were a shining example of his character, inspiring all who knew him.
Dan's love for his family was boundless. His wife, Sandy, often remarked, 'Every woman should be so lucky to have a Dan Jones in their life.' His love for his daughters was steadfast, and he treasured every moment spent with them.
Retirement brought a sense of peace to Dan. He found joy in life's simple pleasures, from uninterrupted episodes of The Price is Right and Let's Make a Deal to teaching his beloved dogs, Lucy and Louie, the art of the perfect nap. His sense of humor was infectious, and he kept his family laughing until the very end.
Dan leaves behind a legacy of love, laughter, and generosity that will forever remain in the hearts of those who knew him. He will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and all who had the privilege of knowing him.
Family and friends are welcome on Monday, December 23, 2024, from 2:00 pm until the time of service at 6:00 pm at Pittsburgh Cremation & Funeral Care, 3287 Washington Road, McMurray, PA 15317, 724-260-5546.
