Daniel Brady Kanouse of Morley, Michigan, age 58, passed away peacefully at home on Thursday, September 18, 2025, with his sons by his side. Dan was born to Ralph Elvert Kanouse and Charlotte Judy Wellman (Westra) on July 15, 1967, in Cadillac, MI.

Dan was the second youngest of a blended family of 14 children. He graduated from Reed City High School in 1985. After, Dan went on to trade school at the National Tooling and Machining Association in Grand Rapids and eventually became a master mold maker. In 2002, he started his Company, Trusted Tooling LLC, which he operated until 2025.

While raising his sons, Dan was actively involved in coaching youth sports teams for his son Brock. Dan also served as pack leader for the Lakeview Cub Scouts Pack 3095. After his oldest son completed the Cub Scouts, he restarted the Boy Scouts of America Troop 95, where he served as Scout Master for several years. He instilled the values of hardwork, honesty, and generosity into his children.

In his free time, Dan was an avid outdoorsman; he enjoyed hunting and fishing. Some of his fondest memories were teaching his sons to hunt, annual trips to the U.P. deer hunting with friends, and fishing for walleye in Saginaw Bay. In the summer, Dan spent most of his time at his cottage in Au Gres, MI, where he operated a vessel known as the "Circus Act," earning the nickname "Capt. Dan" from his friends.

Dan was preceded in death by his parents, his beloved step-mother Sandy, brothers Gene, Dwight, Arnie, and Ray Stewart, sisters Michelle and Robin. He is survived by his sons, Brock and Seth Kanouse of Morley, MI, brothers Art, Scott (Cindy), Steve (Brenda), John, Jesse, and Adam (Julia), and sister Paula. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, and great-nieces and nephews.

The family will be holding a private graveside service in Tustin, MI. Those wishing to offer expressions of sympathy are encouraged to make a donation to the Lakeview Baptist Church.
