Daniel Kazmark Obituary

Daniel J. Kazmark, Sr.

Johnson City - Daniel James Kazmark, Sr., age 81, passed away peacefully at his home after a courageous battle with cancer on Monday, April 19, 2021. Dan was predeceased by his parents Walter and Stella Kazmark, beloved wife Barbara of 23 years, son Brian, sister Joan (Bob) Eaton. Dan is survived by two daughters: Denise (Dan) Giblin and Renee (Kevin) Hayes, three sons: Danny (Erin), Ryan (Jenn) and Robby Kazmark, grandchildren: Danielle and Collin Giblin, Dylan, Zach and Adam Hayes, Brian and Aric Kazmark, Megan (James) DiNicolantonio, Matthew Ahrens, and Tommy Kazmark, two close nieces: Debbie and Donna Eaton, several cousins, brother and sister in laws, nieces, and nephews. Dan graduated from Johnson City High School in June 1957. He served in the US Navy from 1958 to 1960. He was employed by IBM in Owego for 28 years. After his retirement from IBM, he worked at Lockheed Martin, and then started a business "Dan's Lawn Service." He worked at the Johnson City Middle School in the cafeteria and snack bar where the kids referred to him as "Dan the Ice Cream Man." Dan was an active man who enjoyed nature and being outdoors. He was a hunter, fisherman, pistol target competitor, gardener, walker, hiker, camper, boater, and cook. He was an active member at SS Cyril and Methodius Roman Catholic Church and volunteered as an usher at mass, BINGO, CHOW, and church picnics. Dan was often found at Wegmans having his morning coffee with his friends and cousins. Dan loved his family; he loved to joke and dance and always had a smile on his face. When anyone said good bye to him he would say "see you in church." Dan is now united in heaven with his wife and true love, Barbara. A Memorial Mass will be offered on Saturday, May 8, 2021 at 10am at SS Cyril and Methodius Church, 148 Clinton Street Binghamton, NY 13905. The family will receive friends on Saturday from 9am until the time of the mass at SS Cyril and Methodius Church. A private burial will be at Calvary Cemetery, Johnson City following mass. Mass will be recorded for those who cannot make the mass and will be on YouTube. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Humane Society, 167 Conklin Ave, Binghamton, NY 13903 or to CHOW, 3 Otseningo St, Binghamton, NY 13903.

Kazmark Fanily:
My sincerest condolences on the passing of Dan. Dan was a classmate of mine at St. Stanislaus Grammar School. We played basketball for the school and later in the CYO league. He was a strong , scrappy, and fast
athlete. Dan loved the outdoors, hunting, and animals . He rescued a injured crow and nursed it back to health in his garage in JC.
In later years it was good to meet up w Dan walking on the Vestal Rail Trail and chat about life in the past and current times, experiences.
Dan was a most sincere person, down to earth, sincere. I value having
had a friend like Dan in my life. Dan also was very skilled as a Kopernick
Polish dancer.
May your memories be your treasures to help you in times ahead.

To Dan’s family- I got to know Dan over 10 years ago when he would come for his daily walks at the mall. He was such a nice guy and I always looked forward to his visits. He talked often of his wife that had passed many years ago. He truly missed her. He also spoke of his kids and his adored kitty “ Carmella”. Dan said he was never a cat lover, but when his son brought Carmella home, he grew to live her so very much. After she passed away , he would tear up talking about her. He truly missed her. I, being a cat lover, knew how he felt. Even though his visits were less frequent in the last couple of years, he will always be one of our favorites at our office. RIP Dan!
