Dan was born on November 10, 1948 in Fremont, Michigan to the late Alfred and Esther (Martindale) Kimmel. He attended Yale High School graduating with the class of 1967. On November 17, 1979, Dan married the love of his life, Sandra Gribowskas, and together they built a life filled with faith, family and love. As a child, Dan attended the Assembly of God church in Peck, Michigan. After its closing, he and Sandra attended Fellowship Bible Church in Brown City, Michigan. Dan worked for many years as an Auto Collision Repair instructor at the St. Clair County Tech Center in Marysville, Michigan, where he shared his skills and knowledge with countless students. He was a master craftsman of many different disciplines, leading him to mentor many students in a vast array of fields. Dan had a lifelong love of the outdoors. He enjoyed hunting, fishing with his son, Justin, and four-wheeling adventures with his son-in-law, Paul. Dan also found great joy in restoring cars, a passion that revealed his skill and attention to detail.
Dan is survived by his wife, Sandra; children, Stephanie (Paul) Lasky, Justin (Lindsey) Kimmel; grandchildren, Rebecca, Audrey, Brooklynn, and Chuntel (Stetson); brother, Thomas Kimmel; and several nieces and nephews.
Dan was preceded in death by his parents, Alfred and Esther Kimmel; granddaughter, Chloe; sister, Diana Hull; brother, Alan Kimmel; and his favorite white Pomeranian, Lucky Baby.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, September 27, 2025 at the Lasky Household, 10780 Imlay City Road, Emmet, MI 48022 from 1 PM until 4 PM.
In lieu of flowers, memorial may be made to the family discretionary fund in care of, Sandra Kimmel.
The family would like to thank United Hospice of Aspire, Marlette for their outstanding care and support during this difficult time.
