I recently saw Dan repairing a common friend's roof last year. He had a hammer in hand and work boots which showed a great amount of use. I had not seen him since our High School graduation in 1981.
I was so very impressed to see how confident, happy, and comfortable he was with his life. I left our brief meeting that morning with a smile on my face thinking, "He's done well."
Not much of a surprise because he was always respectable back then and I only heard positive comments whenever he was mentioned over the years.
