Daniel King Obituary

Daniel F. King
Daniel F. King, affectionately known as "Dan the Man," passed away peacefully, at home, on October 24, 2025, at age 69, surrounded by his loving family. A devoted husband, father, brother, and friend, Dan was loved for his huge gracious heart, generosity, sarcastic humor and storytelling. His warm presence touched countless lives, leaving a lasting legacy as a mentor, colleague, and beloved family man.
Dan was born in Lowell, MA, on August 26, 1956, to Rita (Newcomb) King and Francis Raymond King. He grew up in Lowell, Massachusetts, as a curious and adventurous kid. His love for New England sports started early. He was an avid baseball fan of the Boston Red Sox as well as the New England Patriots and enjoyed watching games with his family. He also played baseball and football in his school years. Dan had many hobbies; he loved music, camping adventures, deep sea fishing, gardening his vegetables in the summer and had a passion for cooking. He loved to ride his Harley Davidson motorcycle. After retiring, he selflessly dedicated his time to his wife and family as a loving caregiver.
Dan met the love his life, Mary (Mello), in Lowell, MA, in 1980, which led to a 45-year marriage. Dan moved to Enfield, CT, with Mary and family in 1987. Dan worked and retired from Otis Elevator in Bloomfield, CT, after 31 remarkable years of service. He was a "Jack of all Trades", where he worked as a Warehouse Manager, Mechanical Assembler, Builder and Trainer and mentor. Dan is survived by his children, Rosemary Burns and Rob Mittelholtz of Stafford, CT; Lisa and Glenn Contois of Stafford Springs, CT; Linda and Thomas Hannon of Agawam, MA; and Angelo Pacheco of Enfield, CT. He leaves five beautiful grandchildren, Lindsy Burns of Philadelphia, PA; Deanna Burns of Sterling, CT; Maria Contois of Hamden, MA; Matthew Contois of Stafford Springs, CT; and Nathanial Uricchio of Agawam, MA. Dan and Mary built a welcoming home, always putting family and friends at the center. Holidays were always fun at the King residence. Dan is reunited in heaven with his parents, Francis Raymond King and Rita (Newcomb) King; as well as his beloved dog, Petey. Dan is survived by his wife, Mary; his brother, John (Jack) King, and sister, Rosemary King. He is cherished in the hearts of many and will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
A Visitation will be held on Thursday, October 30th, from 4:00-7:00 p.m., with a Prayer Service at 6:30 p.m., from Browne Memorial Funeral Chapels, 43 Shaker Road, Enfield, CT 06082.
