Note: This tribute was originally posted 03.30.2025 on a site that was linked in an obituary, but somehow most of the postings have ended up here on legacy, so I am choosing to post here as well. Still missing him very much.

What lesson(s) did Daniel teach you?

Dan is responsible for nearly everything I know about automobiles, including how to drive. Before he entered the Army, our family was fortunate to gain his unique presence when he married my sister. From the start, and throughout all the successive years, Dan was a great son-in-law to my parents, a fabulous brother-in-law to me and my siblings, and a wonderful uncle to my daughters. It was a joy to watch him over the years as he and my sister became parents to Joe and Theresa and traveled the world as he served in the Army. He lit my first spark of interest in nursing when he took me to the Ft. Bliss hospital for "Take your Sister-in-law to Work Day." But one of the things I hold most dear is the time in El Paso when I learned to drive (stick shift, no less) with Dan and my sister Terry (Carmen) teaching me on their little white Datsun pick-up. He was a special soul, and will be profoundly missed.

I woke up this morning and thought of Dan.I googled him and was very sad to see he recently passed away. I had the pleasure of working with Dan for 4 years at Ft Campbell and considered him a friend and role model. He was a great Army officer and chief anesthetist (he even anaesthetized me for surgery). Always reliable, professional and friendly and I learned a lot from him.... The Army way of doing things so to speak. A great guy and my condolences to Carman and relatives. I am sorry didnt reconnect sooner...

Dan was my big brother.
I saw him as having a servant's heart and stayed awake so others could sleep.
Our families far and wide loved him beyond words.
Dan, rest in peace after a life well lived.

Dear Carmen and Family,
I was so saddened to hear of Dan´s passing-I have great memories of working with Dan in Columbia for many years-he was a great anesthetist, and co-worker, and I loved his dry sense of humor. Wishing you all comfort and peace in your memories.

I´m so sorry for your loss. I worked with Dan at Maury regional for many years prior to his retirement. He and shared a love for sci fi. We would talk often about start trek, start wars and battlestar galactica. He will def be missed.
