Daniel J. Levesque, 67, of Mesa, passed away Saturday, Nov. 8, 2025. He was born in Phoenix on Dec. 26, 1957, and graduated from Westwood High School.

Dan served in the U.S. Navy and Naval Reserves from 1979 to 1985 and was assigned to naval intelligence aboard the USS Ranger. He worked for decades in semiconductors and telecommunications, first at Motorola, where he assisted the launch of the Iridium satellite communication system, and then at General Dynamics, where he supported the Mobile User Objective System. He was a highly regarded Navy-trained engineer and a key contributor of technical solutions throughout his career.

Dan loved animals, including – over his life – his cat, Herbie; his turtle, Fred; and his dogs, Blizzard, Tiger, Duke, Nash and Milo. He enjoyed old cars, old movies, World War II documentaries, music and science. He invented a digital clock and created prototypes from programming to production. He was a devoted sports fan who remained loyal to the Cardinals, Suns, Diamondbacks and Sun Devils, despite their best efforts to test his faith. His clever mind and gift for humor often had his family, friends and coworkers laughing. He liked a good argument almost as much as he loved being right. He was a father figure to many more than his two children. His beloved family called him Danny. He was loved.

Dan is survived by his son, Zachery; his daughter, Kymberly; his sister, Jacqueline [John Rogers]; his nieces, Danielle and Lauren Marshall; and his granddaughter, Zoey. A memorial service will be held at noon, Nov. 22, at Meldrum Mortuary. Flowers can be donated to the service by contacting Meldrum Mortuary. Memorial donations may be made to the Arizona Humane Society.
