It's hard to think it has been almost a year since Dan's passing. My older brother, John Dudley Griffin, and Dan were good friends and shared many similar interests. Can't think of my brother Jack without thinking about Dan also. Both brilliant and both did work to better people's lives.

My cousin Dan was always the brilliant one. He was Daniel Dudley and my older brother, also brilliant, was John Dudley, both after our maternal grandfather, Daniel Dudley Lovelace. Dan and Jack were quite a pair. Very entertaining conversations at family gatherings, even as far back as visits to the Candlewood Lake summer home of Grandfather Lovelace. We knew he was special, and our government must have known also. He once joked that he couldn't write a tell-all CIA book as it would all be redacted. But outside of work, history and family genealogy was a passion. He researched the Lovelace name back a thousand years and was more than knowledgeable about military history from his favorite Revolutionary War through World War II. As talented as he was, he was a kind and thoughtful man, devoted to his family, especially Joan. They were a wonderful pair. I have my memories. Everyone he met will have memories.
