Our beloved Daniel Martinez unexpectedly passed away early in the morning on April 15, 2023. Daniel was born June 14, 1992, and is survived by his mother and father, Juana and Claudio Martinez; brothers: Manuel Urena, Claudio Juan Martinez, Christian Martinez; his daughter, Evelyn Danielle Martinez; his grandfather, grandmother, aunts, uncles, and cousins.
Growing up, Daniel was the second oldest brother of 4 boys. Early on in life, Daniel developed a passion for sports, with a love for basketball and football. He loved representing the Indianapolis Colts and in his free time, Daniel enjoyed attending Colts games, playing basketball recreationally, and refereeing youth basketball games. Daniel proudly worked as a mail carrier for the United States Post Office located in Portage, IN, and was a driver for Lyft, Uber, and DoorDash part-time. Daniel excitedly welcomed his first daughter, Evelyn Danielle Martinez, into this world on July 19, 2015, with Mother Cristal Cuadra. He made it evident that nothing in life was more important than family and being a father to Evelyn, who he protected, loved, and cherished with all his heart. She was his whole world and went out of his way to keep her happy. Daniel was a charismatic human that always intended to spread positivity wherever it was possible. He was a son, father, brother, uncle, nephew, and friend to all those around him. Our family is absolutely devastated by the unexpected news of Daniel's passing and are urgently struggling to wrap our heads around the tragedy and are graciously asking for donations to cover the funeral services and memorial that Daniel deserves. Please consider donating if you can do so. We are so very grateful and touched by the outpour of support we have received during this difficult time and would truly be grateful for every donation. With love from the Martinez family. A visitation will be held on Monday, April 24, 2023, from 4-8 p.m. at Burns Funeral Home & Crematory, 10101 Broadway, Crown Point, IN.
