Daniel John Meador

Although I joined the Alabama Law School faculty after he had moved on, I met him on many occasions. He was one of my heroes! He will be deeply missed by all who knew him.

Sad to read of his passing. I am currently reading one of his books and so wanted to contact him....

I have known and loved Dan for almost 50years. What a truly remarkable man! The service was so special and he would have been so touched by son Dan' s remembrances. You held up beautifully, Alice and all I could think about when I saw you was how much I wished Dan could have seen how lovely you are.

Berry, Anna, and Dan - I will always remember your father's beaming smile and joyous disposition. He truly embraced life despite any obstacles; and I'll always remember your mom right there by his side, so sweet. What an inspiration they both were! I wish all of you peace during this very difficult time.

I was privileged to have been one of Professor Meador's law students at the University of Virginia. He was a wonderful teacher, and I still remember him very fondly, even though nearly 30 years have passed since I was in his class. He was so kind and funny and patient.

My sincere condolences to his family. May God bless and comfort each of you.

Daniel Meador has been a very special friend to Old Cahawba. During his early childhood, he explored the place on his pony Nancy and during his final few years he worked worked so hard to save this special place for future generations. All of us connected to the park there, and to the Cahaba Foundation, which he created, loved him and will never forget him. We will try hard to make his dream live on. We have lost a truly great man, and our hearts also ache for Alice and other members of Dan's family.

So sorry to hear about Dan. I worked for him briefly some years ago and got to know the positive, generous and hard-working man that he was. May your good memories give you comfort.

A truly amazing man! Knew him briefly to provide transportation a few years back, and developed the most reverent respect for the awesome man that Mr. Meador clearly was. I am grateful for his willingness to share and teach so much during the hours when I drove him. My heartfelt condolences to his family in this difficult time.
