Daniel Moore Obituary
Dan was a 1980 honors graduate from the Columbus School of Law at the Catholic University of America. As a student, he won the Miller and Sutherland Cups in oral advocacy and served as Vice Chancellor of the Moot Court. He earned his undergraduate and graduate degrees in philosophy as a Basselin Fellow, graduating summa cum laude from the Catholic University.
Dan spent his career as a civil trial attorney. He was a founding partner of Moore & Jackson and a former partner at Semmes, Bowen & Semmes.
While his professional life was filled with numerous successes and accolades, Dan's proudest achievements were all centered on his wife Christine Monroe Moore, his five children Johanna (Adam) Zayed, Thomas Moore, Kathleen (Kyle) Vaughn, Elizabeth Gasiorowski, Julia (Kevin) Nichols, and ten grandchildren. Dan is survived by siblings Michael Moore, Kathleen (John) Holmes, Maggie Karis, and Carrie Moore. Dan was a self-proclaimed forever big kid and loved to spend his days telling stories to his grandchildren, listening to music, completing the New York Times crossword puzzles, and participating in anything that remotely resembled a competition.
The family will receive friends at the family owned Ruck-Towson Funeral Home, 1050 York Road (at beltway exit 26) on Friday, November 21, 2025, 4-7PM. Services and interment private. In lieu of flowers, Dan would appreciate donations to https://mdfoodbank.org

Yesterday
Dan met my brother Ray, at Catholic University when they were both entering their junior year. Dan was the brother, mine never had (he was cursed with two younger sisters).
After college, they found an apartment together and began their respective careers. Marriage and children came in their twenties and even though they were separated by hundreds of miles, their bond never wavered, it grew stronger with age.
It was Dan who my brother would call to share all the joys and sorrows fifty years can bring. When our mom passed twenty years ago, Dan flew to RI to attend the funeral and comfort not only my brother, but all of us. His heart always had room, and Dan, always had the words.
So, to Chris, and their children and grandkids, I am so sorry for the loss and pain in your heart. My prayers are with all of you.

Dan was one of my very first friends. We attended grade school together from age six to fourteen. I will always remember his exceptional intelligence, honesty, and compassion, as well as a sense of humor that kept it all in balance.
