Daniel W Nauman was born in Ballston Spa, NY. He spent his childhood in Hobart, NY. He enjoyed his teenage years in Rotterdam, NY, attending Houghton Academy and graduating in 1968. He went on to earn a Degree of Associate in Arts at Daniel Webster Jr. College in NH. In 1971 he was drafted into the Army Infantry, serving in the 82D Airborne out of Fort Bragg, N. Carolina. He was honorably discharged in 1974.
Then, he met Susan Alice White, who became his beloved wife for 24 years and the mother of his three children. He spent the best years of his life raising a family in Scotia, NY. During this time; he received a Realtor License, served on the Camp Pattersonville board of directors, and did a stint in the National Guard. While working for the Watervliet Arsenal, he acquired a Machinist Apprenticeship. Making a career out of opportunity, he spent 27 years at the Arsenal before taking an early retirement.
After his children were grown, he downsized and moved to Schenectady, NY. To keep busy in his retirement years, for a short time he drove for Amazing Grace Transportation and he often would help his brother with building projects. He spent much of this time, with his kids, traveling, visiting friends and family, exploring Florida, lighthouses and churches. He strengthened his faith and relationships with other church congregations. He had a lifelong fellowship with First Presbyterian Church in Schenectady, NY. His joy was found in his kids, grandson, three brothers, family, close friends, and faith. He would talk of things he had done, where he had been, what he had seen and what he had yet to see. He was humbled by the beauty in his life and gave all he had to those he loved. He was a man of big heart, who gave out love like candy.

Dan We shared are love of the outdoors and hiking many trails and climbing towers. I taught you to be a goofball and hug trees wherever we went. If I spotted a good tree to hug while we were driving you would say you want to go hug that tree don't you? 3 were just planted in your name to hug from heaven. I am going to miss all our dinners and building stuff planting flowers. demolition for sure but all our conversations 82nd Airborne your childhood stories about your brothers your mom and Dick uncle Calvin and the lord of course. You loving to grill dinners for all my friends and Family any chance you would get. Our recreation of the Jack burger. Vegetable meatloaf and cabbage roll casserole were your favorite besides a good steak filet always. You are my best friend just now you are in non physical form. You did so much work in my house and for me. everywhere I look there is a memory of you. Everyday I dont get a good morning or hows your day and goodnight text reality sets in. The fact that we will never celebrate our birthdays together makes me cry. You made sure all my butterfly bushes and flowers were planted exactly the way the Queen wanted them. I will never hear you call me the Queen and her palace again. Thank you for loving me like a daughter and teaching me things a father teaches a daughter especially how a man should treat me. I am so grateful you were watching me kick a snowblower and came out to help me December 6th 2019. You started as my neighbor who became my friend and than were part of my family. I never knew when we opened our Christmas gifts went to Panera and got Christmas Fishies I would read my last text and never see you again in physical form. This has been the hardest thing I have had to go through in a long time. I know your flying high and will keep helping guiding and showing me the way. I will make you proud. We will meet again luv ya my BFF. Luv Melissa AKA (Queen)
