Daniel C. Patton, age 77, of Huntington, IN, passed away on Friday, January 9, 2026, at his residence.
Dan was born on August 21, 1948, in Benton Harbor, MI, to the late Maurice T. and Aleene (Courtney) Patton. He married Leilani Douglas on May 17, 1986, and she survives and resides in Huntington.
Dan was a 1966 graduate of Redwater High School in Texas and received his bachelor's degree from Stephen F. Austin University. He was a retired Chemical Engineer and worked for Gen-Corp in Fort Wayne for many years. Dan was a member of Faith Lutheran Church in Roanoke and was a 3rd degree member of the Knights of Columbus Council #1014 in Huntington. He also enjoyed volunteering at United with Love of Huntington County, Open Door, and Victory Noll/St. Anne's Community. He was an avid golfer, an animal lover, and enjoyed gardening and DIY projects.
Along with his wife, Leilani, he is survived by three daughters, Elizabeth Kennedy, Louisville, KY, Rebecca (Chris) Reat, Argyle, TX, Courtney (Aaron) Anderson, Wilmington, NC; three sisters, Maureen (Charles) Walker, Shreveport, LA, Martha (Jimmy) Rogers, Hot Springs Village, AR, Mary Spencer, Texarkana, TX; two grandchildren, Cole (Madison) Reat, Cade Reat; and one great-granddaughter, Lainey June Reat. Dan was preceded in death by his brother-in-law, Mickey, of Texarkana, TX.
Calling hours will be held on Saturday, January 17, 2026, from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m., followed by the 11:00 a.m. Memorial Service at Faith Lutheran Church, 3416 E 900 N, Roanoke, IN 46783, with Rev. Shayne Jonker officiating. A Celebration of Life will follow.
A private burial will be at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to United with Love of Huntington County in care of McElhaney Funeral Home, 715 N. Jefferson Street, Huntington, IN.
