Dan, along with Bobby and Bill gave me my first job as a law clerk after my 1L year. I will never forget one time when Dan assigned a research project. I worked very hard on the memo and after he reviewed it, he thanked me, told me it was well done and asked me about another case which may have relevance of which he had a recollection. I followed him into the firm library and he walked right up to a certain volume of So2d and flipped it open to the very case he was seeking. I stood in awe. Dan always took time to explain matters to me, introduced me to clients and even invited me back to work part time during the my 2L year as he knew money was tight for me as a law student. I learned a lot from Dan and I always admired his commitment to his clients and his employees. During exam time in my 2L Fall semester, he shared that he and wonderful Martha were taking a client out to the Pontchartrain Hotel for dinner. I said I had never been there. He raved about the Mile High Pie. That evening, as I studied, he and Martha appeared at my door after their client dinner with a slice of Mile High pie for me and my husband, René.

RIP Dan. Thank you for helping me understand what being a lawyer and a kind one, was all about.
