Hello,
We would like to express our deepest condolences and also let the Lightner Family know that we recently sent Care Packages to American troops in the war zones. Each box carried a dedication sheet that includes the name, service information and a photo of your loved one. We recognize that this is a humble tribute, but we wanted you to know that it is heartfelt and made possible by thousands of like-minded individuals in the youth hockey community and beyond. We will not forget. May God Bless you and keep you strong.
Sincerely,
Charlie Gili & Family

In Memory of Daniel ~ (Debra Estep)

October 27, 2008

Holding you all in my thoughts and prayers.

The Wind on The Downs

“I like to think of you as brown and tall,
As strong and living as you used to be,
In khaki tunic, Sam Brown belt and all,
And standing there and laughing down at me.
Because they tell me, dear, that you are dead,
Because I can no longer see your face,
You have not died, it is not true, instead
You seek adventure in some other place.
That you are round about me, I believe;
I hear you laughing as you used to do,
Yet loving all the things I think of you;
And knowing you are happy, should I grieve?
You follow and are watchful where I go.”

(Written by Marian Allen during World War l )

Two lines that I wish you to keep near your heart…….

“You seek adventure in some other place.
That you are round about me, I believe”

I did not know Daniel, but I am remembering
his service and sacrifice. He is my hero. !

The Other Side

i'm over on the other side
where life and death softly divide.
left my skin and bones behind
now i'm over on the other side.

can you feel me there with you?
my breath is gone but i'm not through.
loved you then and i still do
from over on the other side.

i can fly. really fly.
below the earth ... all through the sky.
tell em all i did not die.
i'm just over on the other side.

it's good here on the other side.
the sweetest songs...the bluest skies.
thank you for the tears you cried
but it's good here on the other side.

i can fly. really fly. below the earth...all through the sky.
tell em all i did not die.
i'm just over on the other side

the world is smaller than a needle's eye.
where life and death softly divide.
when you leave your skin and bones behind
i'll be waiting on the other side.

i can fly. really fly. below the earth ... all through the sky.
go tell em all i did not die.
i'm just over on the other side.

There is nothing that I can say or do to take away the pain or bring you peace in your time of sorrow, but I will offer you and your family my heart felt condolences. I also offer you my prayers that in time the pain will easy and the memories of your HERO will carry you through each day and night. I want to thank your HERO, for his/her selfless act of becoming a member of the armed forces, his/her willingness to defend the United States of America, all that we hold sacred and for the sacrifice that will forever be etched in the memories of all those who knew him/her. Though tears can never bring him/her back, we hope that our tears express our gratitude for the sacrifice that he/she made and our sorrow at his/her passing. I believe for every fallen HERO there is a star shining brightly up above to remind us of the precious gift we were given.

Your mission on earth is complete and you are now a member of GOD’s Heavenly armed forces. Stand down brave warrior and take your rightful place in Heaven with all the HEROES who have passed before.

I made a special promise to LE RON A. WILSON, a dear family friend who joined the Army with three other friends, one of whom is my son (Le Ron was killed in action on 07/06/07 at the age of 18) on the day he was laid to rest as I touched his coffin, that I would never forget him nor would I forget those that gave their lives for our country before him, with him and after him and so when I came across www.legacy.com, I thought what a great way to keep my promise to Le Ron, so I will continue to leave tributes in each guest book until the day there is no longer the need to leave these tributes to a FALLEN HERO.

REST IN PEACE, HERO, YOU WILL NEVER BE FORGOTTEN!!

I am Deeply saddened to learn of the loss of Staff Sgt. Daniel R. Lightner, one year ago today.
The price this young hero and his family have paid for this country and for freedom, WILL NEVER BE FORGOTTEN.
May Daniel rest safely in the Loving Care of God and may the Peace of the Lord continue to be with the Lightner family.
There will never be enough ways to humbly thank these heroes for their Supreme Sacrifice, my brother among them. KIA~Vietnam, 1967.

With each new day, may the Lord restore your soul and through His love, give you the strength to go on.
May you find Strength in your faith,

Our son, SFC Brent A. Adams, served with your son in Iraq and was also killed on December 1st. Knowing first hand that there is nothing anyone can say to make it better right now, please know that we share in your sorrow at all these fallen heros. Brent had told us of Daniel's death and was deeply affected by it. Just know that you are not alone and may you find peace and eventual comfort in the memories of your Hero. If there is anything we can do, please don't hesitate to contact us.

God Bless and join us in prayer that this war is soon over and all the remaining men and women courageously serving our country may be brought home safely to their anxious and awaiting families.

Dan, it has been almost a month since I read the notification about your death. I have thought about you

everyday since then. I have been trying to put together the words to express my sorrow to your family

but I don't think there is anything I can say that can comfort them. I could only tell your mother and sisters that you were a man that I truly respected and admired and that it is my hopes that in raising my son's, that I can do as good as job as your parent's did with you. It is an Honor to have worked with you and to call you a friend. You are sadly missed, my fiend....

Danny was a great guy to work with. I'll truely miss just being around him. You could not find a great person to know than him. Danny, I'll miss you. But I know that someday we'll meet again in a better spot.

Dan was a truly great all around guy who will be missed greatly. His character exhibited the Christian qualities that many want to have in their lives. While working at Lewisburg, he went above and beyond each and every day. When he was accepted into the State Police, he was excited and overjoyed, but also knew that he had his friends that he would be leaving at Lewisburg, which sadden him. This world has lost a truly great friend, a truly great warrior and above all a great Christian.

The Lord giveth and the Lord taketh away; blessed be the name of the Lord! My condolences to the Lightner family for their unexpected loss of their son Daniel Lightner. Danny and I shared a friendship and work relationship. He was an unbelievable person who represented the epitome of humility and integrity. My heart grieves for you Danny because many will never get to experience your greatness. I know that Danny had a relationship with the Lord Jesus Christ because his life was the witness. I will forever remember him with joy and the confidence in knowing that he touched so many people with his life however short lived. God bless the Lightner family!

I’ve never known a more willing, loyal, and courageous person than Danny. He would do anything for anyone and was proud to serve his country. Danny was not afraid to stand up for what he believed in and had a strong faith in his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. He blessed so many lives during the short time he was here on earth and will be missed so much.

Danny, it’s so hard to believe you’re gone but I know I’ll see you in Heaven someday!

Danny,

my room mate, my friend , we served together in Iraq and I was the driver on that dreadful day. I will miss you my friend and will I will remember our time together and our long talks. You are a giant and I am proud of you , you always talked how much you had respect for me being a fire fighter for Pittsburgh the truth is. I was proud of you the stories you told of the job as a State Trooper and of your mother and sisters. My heart will be scard for life from that day but I will also remember the time I did have with you and got to know you. I will miss you Danny and will always be proud of you , for there is No One Like you My Friend.

A great soldier/person I am proud to have known in my time in the 28th MP CO in the Pennsylvania National Guard. SSG Lightner was very personable and easy going-- a very knowledgable "high-speed" NCO that many liked and respected. The thing I remember most, however, is that he always "maxed" out his Physical Fitness test with extreme ease and actually drew spectators during the test, many of which would walk away shaking their heads in disbelief. If there is ever someone for junior soldiers to emulate, SSG Lightner was it.

We lost a good one. RIP friend.

To the Family and Friends of Daniel,

We may not have known Daniel, but it doesn't make a difference how old or how young, one life lost, is one life too many and we want you to know we feel your pain. We are still trying to get our lives back in order after losing our beloved Granddaughter, A1C Elizabeth N. Jacobson, a Security Forces Blue Beret, who lost her life in Iraq, 9-28-05. She is now guarding the gates in Heaven while waiting for Daniel, and we want you to know that he will not be forgotten. Without our children this Country would not be what it is today. May G-d bless our troops, and hopefully, someday soon, Freedom and Peace will reign, so they all can be brought home safely.

No matter what type of accident or act of war, a loss of a child or friend is very traumatic, I know that words aren't much consolation, but we thank you for allowing him to serve. He will always be a hero in our hearts.

Elizabeth's motto was "We're only on Earth for a little while, so live life to the fullest and carry a smile."
