Daniel "Dan" William Rose was born on October 10, 1950, in St. Paul, Minnesota, to William and Therese (Hahn) Rose. He grew up in New Ulm, where he graduated from New Ulm High School with the Class of 1969. Shortly after graduation, Dan answered the call to serve his country, enlisting in the United States Marine Corps. He proudly served until his honorable discharge in 1970. A bit of a nomad at heart, Dan spent several years traveling, continuing his education, and working in a variety of roles across the country. In 1986, Dan was united in marriage to Vona Thoele in Kansas. Together they raised two children, a son and a daughter, creating many cherished memories as a family. Though they later divorced, Dan remained a proud father and friend. Dan devoted many years to H.D. Lee in production and was most recently employed with Ottawa Trucking, working in manufacturing. Beyond his work life, Dan had a deep and abiding love for animals. His passion led him to establish his own wildlife rescue facility, where he cared for countless creatures in need. He also loved music - every style, every era - and could often be found attending concerts, watching baseball games, enjoying a good movie, or simply relaxing with a cold beer. Those who knew Dan will remember his big personality, his sense of humor, and his fiercely independent spirit. He lived life on his own terms and left a lasting impression on all who had the pleasure of knowing him. Dan's life was filled with adventure, love for family, and a heart full of compassion for animals and people alike. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
