Daniel (Danny) Verle Rundell, 77, of El Reno, OK, passed away on Tuesday, October 28th, at Mercy Hospital in Oklahoma City.
Born on May 29th, 1948, in Vallejo, CA to the late Verle and Betty Rundell of Wichita, KS, Danny was the oldest of three boys in a Navy family, living in several military installations in Alaska, Morocco, and Germany before settling down in Odenton, MD.
Danny graduated from Arundel High School and University of Maryland, Baltimore County before starting work with the USPS. While growing up in Odenton, he always enjoyed family trips back to the Rundell farm in Kansas to be reunited with all his cousins, aunts and uncles, and grandparents.
While attending high school Danny played the drums in a local 60's rock band and was also active in the Civil Air Patrol. After college, Danny moved to Hollywood Florida and worked in graphic design for many years before moving to Park City, Kansas to be close to family. While there he met Debbie Dillon, and they were married in 1990. After their retirement, they moved to Oklahoma to enjoy time with their children and grandchildren.
Danny was an avid fan of John Wayne and was so proud of his "Duke" collection as well as his Dan Marino memorabilia. He also enjoyed fishing and when at home, feeding the local birds and squirrels. He and Debbie loved their pets and over the years adopted many rescue pets and gave them a loving forever home.
Danny is survived by his wife Debbie, daughters Stacy Megert and Wendy Bye and their children. He is also survived by his younger brothers Jim and Jeff, as well as many nieces, nephews, and friends who will dearly miss him.
