Daniel P. Russotti, age 84 of Coal City, IL, formerly of Marseilles, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, August 14, 2024 at his home surrounded by his family.
He was born on March 17, 1940 in Oak Park, IL to Joseph and Lucille (nee Bertone) Russotti. He served his country honorably in the United States Army during the Korean War. Later, he served in the Army Reserves. Daniel was a carpenter and owned and operated Russotti & Son's Construction. He married Barbara J. Cleff on December 10, 1959 in Forest Park. Together, they raised 6 children. Daniel, or "Papa" as he was known, enjoyed his large family, including his many grandchildren and great grandchildren. From time to time, when the commotion of so many family members became tiring for him, he would say that he was "going to let the dog out" or he "needed to fix the couch leg" and would sneak away for a nap.
He is survived by his sons, Danny (Sue) Russotti of TN and Joe (Rachel) Russotti of Kinsman; his daughters, Rhonda Russotti and Lorie Bianco, both of Dwight, Audrey (the late Patrick) Miller of Coal City and Carrie (Dave) Hairald of Wilmington. Also surviving are 18 grandchildren and 25 great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 61 years, Barbara; his parents, Joseph and Lucille Russotti; his sisters, Marie and Joann Russotti and his brother, Edward Russotti.
Visitation will be from 3:00 pm until 7:00 pm on Sunday, August 18, 2024 at Ferrari Funeral Services, 1044 Ferrari Drive, Coal City, IL 60416.
