Daniel Smith Obituary

Published by Legacy on Feb. 15, 2024.
ARLINGTON - On the evening of Tuesday, February 6, 2024, Daniel Glenn Smith joined his father in heaven after a long battle with congestive heart failure, at the age of 44. Dan was a busy and free spirit, and he was never going to rest while he was here.
Funeral: 12:00 p.m. Saturday, February 17, 2024 in Live Oak Chapel at Greenwood, 3100 White Settlement Rd, Fort Worth, Texas 76107 with a visitation 1 hour prior to service, followed by interment at Greenwood Memorial Park.
Daniel enjoyed being outside from the time he was a baby, and no one took better care of their lawn. He loved fishing and boating, and eventually enlisted in the Navy. He was always working on one of his cars, and he beamed with joy the day his Thunderbird was eligible for classic license plates. He was a maintenance man at Trinity Trace Apartments and a true handyman. He was always so willing to fix anything or try to help in any way he could. He had a nostalgic heart and loved old school video games, Charlie Brown, Batman, and VHS tapes, and these things lined the walls of his modest home where he hosted many family gatherings. Daniel was the glue that brought this family together, and he had the most holiday spirit. His entire year revolved around decorating for holidays, such as building haunted houses and syncing lights to Christmas carols.
Daniel's life was cut short far too soon, and there are not enough words to explain the emptiness that his family feels after his passing. His heart was full of all the people and things he loved. He was a great brother, reliable friend, fun uncle, devoted father, and loving papa.
Dan is survived by his grandparents, LaGrand and Bobbye Smith; aunts and uncles, David, Alice, James, Gerald, and Irma; wife, Elizabeth; mother, Susan; siblings, Kevin, Kristin, Amber, and Michael; children, Hayden, Haylie, Zachary, Brittany, and Chris; three grandchildren, and four nieces and nephews.
Broken Chain
We little knew that morning that
God would call your name.
In life we loved you dearly, and in death we do the same.
It broke our hearts to lose you, but you did not go alone,
For part of us went with you the day God called you home.
You left us peaceful memories,
.Your love is still our guide,
And though we cannot see you,
You are always by our side.
Our family chain is broken,
And nothing seems the same,
But as God calls us one by one,
The chain will link again.

Memories from my first visit to my son Ron and Susan to see and hold Daniel at their house in Pottsbury Tx in 1980 was exciting and special. Only problem occurred when it was bedtime Daniel cried most of the night. I reminded him in September at his dad´s funeral of my first visit, he said he remembered that visit. Will miss you and remember your wonderful smile. May God bless your family.
