Daniel Eugene Stearns

Daniel Eugene Stearns, a longtime Willamina resident, passed away peacefully on November 8, 2025, in McMinnville, Oregon, at the age of 85.
Dan was born on September 23, 1940, in Murphysboro, Illinois, to Lawrence and Ruth Stearns. He grew up in Murphysboro, where he attended school.
In 1961, Daniel married Sandra Cripps in Corinth, Mississippi. Together they built a loving home and raised three children: Dale, James, and Julie. The couple later settled in Willamina, Oregon, where they made their family home. Sandra preceded him in death on October 19, 2001.
Daniel worked hard throughout his life to provide for his family, holding positions at Champion Plywood Mill in Willamina, Taylor Lumber in Sheridan, and Cascade Steel in McMinnville. He retired not long after the passing of his beloved wife.
Known for his quiet strength and practical wisdom, Dan enjoyed fishing, hunting, and woodworking, and he took pride in crafting and creating with his hands. His legacy lives on in the many stories he shared with his family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Lawrence and Ruth, and siblings Paul, David, James, Mary Ann, and John. He is survived by his sisters Martha and Margaret, his three children, Dale, James, and Julie, along with seven grandchildren and four great-grandchildren who will cherish his memory.
A viewing and visitation will be held on Sunday, November 16th, from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. at the West Valley Funeral Home. Flowers may also be sent to the funeral home for the viewing at 108 NW Lincoln Street in Sheridan, Oregon. Office hours are 10:00am - 3:00pm Monday - Friday.
Funeral services will be private.
