Daniel Sullivan

I am so sorry to hear about Dan. He was my voice teacher through Longy and then at his home studio. I truly enjoyed his infectious laugh and postivity. He added so much joy and warmth to my singing. He will be missed. I just was thinking of him and saw this legacy post.

I just found out about Dan's passing. My first opera was "Don Pasquale" with Opera/Omaha in '82. Dan, Alan Baker, and director Dottie Danner taught me the work ethic of opera performance. Every time I was on stage, as his servant, Dan was right next to me, and sometimes invented bits we would use. Before this production, I thought most opera stars could sing, but not act. Wow, did he prove me wrong! What a wonderful talent he was, and so much fun to work with! I got to be in one more production with him, "Gianni Schicchi", and he was just as great! He was an extremely nice person. I often look at photos from "Pasquale" that I treasure.

I lost track of Mr. Sullivan which was what we called him at the University of Nebraska at Omaha in 1971/2. He was my voice teacher and really got me to be my best. I remember he left mid-year to join the SF Opera. I lost interest in voice after he left but I always remember him fondly. Great sense of humor. sorry I lost track of him and such a wonderful life.

Dan's memory is preserved on my 2-DVD set of the 1980 PBS Most Happy Fella which I chose to preserve and sell to others because of my love for the show having seen the original production in 1956. One of his students just alerted me to his passing. What a fabulous career and lasting impact he will have made of his students and their students.

I have always loved Dan and Sharon, and their family. Was lucky to be able to attend Megan's wedding last June and to see Dan while he was doing so well and so happy. Regret that we were unable to attend the March 11 memorial. Cloris and I toasted Dan and family that day. Our love to all.

After reading those about Dan's everything, I feel deeply sorry and sympathetic, Dan he was such a nice, strong and warmhearted guy who should be live in our hearts forever. The most love and condolences to you, Ms. Daniels and your family, hopping you would get through this difficult time. And take care of yourself. Love you forever.

Dan was certainly one of the good ones, a gentle spirit and a smile and kind words for everyone. We're sorry that our paths did not cross more often. I very much value the times we shared the stage and remember them with great fondness.

Sharon, so sorry to hear this news. While I didn't know Dan, I know you and I wanted you to know I was sending my thoughts and love to you.

Please accept my deepest and most heart-felt sympathies, Sharon. It seemed, in 1979, that you were indeed married to the most happy fella. What a wonderful life Dan lived. Many blessings.

So sorry to learn of Dan's passing. Love and condolences to Sharon and family. It was always such a pleasure to bump into Dan at a performance, masterclass, "talkback" session. I have met Dan a few times and always felt his kindness, his supportive nature and his warmth. He will be greatly missed by the musical community in Boston where he had a huge presence. My condolences to Sharon Daniels and the family.

What a beautiful obituary! I've met Dan only a few times, but I was impressed by his open, jovial and friendly manner... There is no doubt he will be missed by all those whose lives were touched by him. My condolences to you and your family, with best thoughts and feelings.

I am so glad that I got to know Dan and Sharon early in their marriage. They were an inspiration to me and my then husband that we I could have two careers and a family. They made it work so well! My deepest condolences to Sharon and their families. What a lovely man and artist!!!

Dan was all of the wonderful things said about him in his obituary. His laugh and ready sense of humor were my favorite things. He was always fun to be around and always made you feel special. He will be missed!!

What a beautiful tribute. I remember my time working with Dan at Boston Lyric in Carlisle Floyd's Wuthering Heights. He was powerful on stage and such a great colleague off.

I don't think I have ever read a tribute as beautiful as this. It really paints an incredible picture of a man who love well, lived well, and was loved tremendously. It was my privilege to know and perform with this outstanding singer, artist and most of all great friend as we stood side by side in the ranks of the U.S. Army Chorus. I remember that booming baritone voice and the ever present smile, regardless of our performance circumstances. I believe if you look up the words "consummate professional" in Webster's...you'll see a picture of Dan Sullivan. May you rest in peace my good friend...you will be greatly missed,
