Daniel J. Sutton

Daniel J. Sutton, Jr., 81, of Forked River, formerly of West Milford, passed away on December 28, 2025.

Daniel was the son of the late Daniel J. and Isabella Sutton. He grew up in Wanaque and was part of the first class to graduate from Lakeland High School. He enlisted in the US Air Force during the Vietnam War and later returned to the Air Force as a civilian for the Department of Defense where he worked as an aircraft mechanic. After leaving the military, Daniel worked as a carpenter for Local 15 in Hackensack. He loved working with his hands, building and fixing things, and spending time outdoors hunting and fishing.

Daniel is lovingly survived by his son, Daniel J. Sutton, III and his wife Rochelle; his daughter, Rebecca Leeming and her partner Christopher Gallagher; his granddaughters, Samantha Sutton and Madelyn DiPillo; his sisters, Patricia Fowler and Cheryl Dyke; and his brother, William Sutton. He was predeceased by his wife, Dolly; his brother, Richard; and his son-in-law, Scott Leeming.

Visiting hours will be held from 1:00 to 4:00 PM Saturday, January 3 at Scanlan's, Pompton Plains. A funeral service concluding the visitation will begin at 3:30 PM.
